This is a short story based on the old Chinese proverb about red thread it was an inspiration when I couldn't find many of these so I decided to make my own.

An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time place or circumstances, the thread may stretch or tangle but will never break

When someone was born, there was always a strange man in the room. It seemed impossible that he was at every birth but he was so he saw them all. After each birth he leaned over the child doing something with an invisible object, seemingly blessing the small child, but really he was tying an invisible red thread to their ring fingers sometimes already leading to another person sometimes not.

The little girl born to the Yamanaka's and the boy born to the Nara's in the same month did not know that they were destined to be, but their knot was only an average knot they wouldn't fall in love right away.

The Namikaze's son and the hyuuga heiress had a tighter knot, one of them knew that they were meant to be because she with her special eyes could see the faint outline of the thread tying her to him.

The hyuuga branch member and the nameless weapons mistress would have an even tighter knot both loving the other but being afraid to tell their love for fear of rejection.

There was one knot that was so tight it could never be untied. It had been stretched when he left, tangled when he refused to return, but it never did break.

The threads man saw that even after 16 years the threads knot was still unbreakable and their threads were becoming shorter drawing the two together again. He knew that the thread knotted between the Haruno and the Uchiha was going to get short enough to be only the knot remaining.

So he watched his masterpiece of fate uncurl, watched the Uchiha come home and face imprisonment, watched the Haruno begin to trust him again, watching them untangle and shorten their thread.

He came one day only to find that the thread was gone altogether, leaving only the knot behind.

The god of fates smiled at the pair, knowing that never again would he have a knot as perfect and spectacular as the one between Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha
