Your raven black hair whips around in the storm, you're perched among a rock, the infamous witch Walpurgisnacht floats above in the dark, grey clouds. The wind howls and your whole body feels numb from the cold. Your garments are ripped and torn, scratches all among your body. Gravel and stone is piled around you, destroyed concrete from a fallen bridge. The city is distant, you managed to lead the enemy far away from the unknowing citizens. This is your fight alone, your chance to make everything right. You'll save everyone, even if it costs you your life. I'll save her.

The world is silent, it's just you and the witch. It's almost as if she's groaning into the night, her body creaking as she floats among the thunder and lightning that crashes down every few minutes. You swallow down a forming lump in your throat, your lips feeling cracked and dry. You stagger up into a standing position, picking up a pistol that was laying on the ground near you. It only has a few bullets left, and those will make all the difference between life and death for you.

Taking a deep breath and taking a confident step forward, you leap up into the air, holding the gun as steadily as you can in your shaking and sweaty hands. Fear and nervousness threaten to consume you, but you ignore them, keeping your eyes on the target.

BANG!

One bullet is released, smashing into the body of the witch, smoke filling up the air along with residue as a part of her body is merely scratched. It's not enough, you don't know how you'll make it with these few shots. Midair, you shift your weight to the left, trying to get a different angle on her, but you begin to feel yourself slipping back towards the ground, gravity dragging you down. Don't waste your bullet, you tell yourself as you sail back to the rocky floor. The landing is hard, and you collapse to your knees. You grit your teeth in pain, trying to ignore the possibility of a sprained or even broken ankle.

You glare back up at the Walpurgisnacht, its almost as if she's taunting you. A small ant against a giant creature. That pathetic. She knows you'll lose, just like every other time, just like the countless battles before this. Every time is a waste. Sometimes you're amazed at why you even bother.

Moments later, that reason comes to surface. "Homura!" A distant cry is heard, a voice full of worry. You turn your head, brushing the loose strands of hair from your face. Eyes full of fear, you watch as she comes closer. "M-Madoka.. No!" You quickly stand up, ignoring the sharp pain in your leg. It doesn't matter. You begin to run towards her, and as you reach her you grip her shoulders tightly, pushing her away. Kyuubey is only a few steps behind her. It's his fault.

"NO!" You scream, "Why are you here?! Get out, get out!"

She looks at you, confused, her mouth hanging open in shock. "Homura-chan...?" She asks like a puzzled child. She grabs your arms, trying to calm you down, "What's wrong?"

"It's not safe here, you need to get away from here, go back to your family." You say, sweat beading down your forehead, "Please!"

"No!" She says, letting go of you, her fists clenching up. "I'm here to help you! Noone should have to do this alone!"

You gape at her, not sure what to say. How can she be so kind when the two of you are only yards away from death? She's insane, and you can't allow her to do this. "Go. Now. You'll die!"

"I'll die with you then." She replies, her brows furrowing with determination. And the next thing she does, is unbelievable. A warm smile spreads across her face. Like a flower in this field of crumbling stone.
