Chapter 1: Ambers hope.

-New York gargoyles world year 300-

A knight walked through the area. The knight was in full body armor the knights purple eyes looked around as the knight scouted out the area.

The knight was on the search for another castle to bring aid to. The knight armour had a helmet with two large horns along sword with silver and red written on it a red cross was even at the tip of it. The armour itself was silver. The arm bands had spikes as did the fingertips and the shoulder plates were thick and had a red stripe curing across them. The legs had armoured skirt with red markings on either side. The middle had a red cloth skirt. The chest and torso was heavily plated and had a red crest on the chest area.

She arrived upon a castle an armoy was attacking the place. The knight charged in attacking those seguging the castle her blade slicing through the army like a warrior waiting for a fight. Blood splatter the ground with each strike then the knight pierced one attacking a female creature her large blade was held against the others until it was knocked out of his hand.

"You are definitely a more capable foe than many of the other humans I have faced," said the creature. The knight out there hand to the creature to help the being up.

The being looked suspicious at first. And the she took the knight's hand. The knight pulled her to her feet before attacking the intruders the other gargoyles guard helped out recently they drove out the attackers.

The knight placed her sword in front of them as if to signal the defeat of the army the blood on the ground and the knights blade showed just how formable this opponent was.

"You're amazing!" the gargoyle said. the knight bowed poilty. The knight took off there helmet and reviled a pale skinned purple eyed female looking face, her hair was long straight blonde, when it came out going up to her waist.

"Thanks, fair being. Thy seemed to needed My help and my queen asked me to come to this kingdom's aid." The woman knight said in a sweet tone.

"Your voice. You're a woman," the gargoyle said in .

"That I am, Fair being." The female knight told her she took the gargoyles hand. "I thank yee for fighting by my side, dear Angel."

"I'm barely an angel," said the gargoyle, laughing a little.

"You have wings, you protect this land, we are warriors in arms." The female knight then the captain of the guard came out to see who there was.

"You fought with valor, brave warrior," said the captain. "Please, allow me to present ye to our princess.""

"I would be honored. But it wasn't all me. This angel helped me in battle. The victory was won by both our hands." The knight said in a gentle tone.

The captain smiled and said, "I agree. Which is why she and her mate will be recognized as ell."well id like both if you go come join us for a meal."

The female knight smiled walking with the captain to the area.

-With the princess-

The princess was shocked by the female knight it was kinda ironic that a princess was acting in such a manner. "We are sure this woman was the knight to protect this castle?"

The female knight frowned and almost glared at that comment.

"Yes," said the captain. "I saw her first hand, as did many of the guards. This woman was the most amazing warrior I have ever seen. And she is as much our heroine as Goliath and his clan."

"I just did what was needed. Ever since the war in my lady's kingdom the queen asked many of the women and men to fight for her army. She had no time to be prejudice against gender." The female knight gently said with a gentle bow. "Which is why she sent her best warrior here to help out and make sure the other castles were safe."

"I see," said the princess still looking a little disturbed. "Well, tell us your name, lady knight."

"My fair lady I'm Maria Evangeline." Maria told the princess with a bow.

"Thank ye for your help, Maria Evangeline," the princess kindly said. "I shall reward you."you."

Maria smiled at the woman. "You honor me, my lady."

A servant presented the lady night with a bag of gold coins as a . She took them and thanked her happily.

Maria closed her eyes as the princess decided to have her sleep in a room for the night. She walked to the stone walls and she began to remove her armour when a gargoyle glided in.

"Good evening, lady Maria Evangeline," she greeted.

"Good marrow, angel. It's a pleasure to see you." Maria told her in a sweet tone. She gave pulled her a dagger and held it out to her. "I wish you to have this dagger as thanks for all the help you gave me."

The gargoyle accepted the dagger. "You are very different than the other humans. You respect and appreciate us."

"Why wouldn't one respect a fellow warrior?" Maria asked.

The gargoyle frowned and looked away slightly. "The humans find our appearances…. Frightening. Many of them view us as monsters."

"That's ridiculous. You are amazing unique creatures," Maria said with a smile.

The gargoyle smiled back at her. "Thank you."

"What is your name?" Maria asked.

"I do not have one," said the gargoyle. "Our kind have little need or use for names. My mate was given the name Goliath by the humans after the giant who fought David.""

"Well then let me name you." Maria offered her in a sweet tone. Taking her hands.

"What name would you choose for me?" the gargoyle asked with a smile.

"Hum well there was a great warrior I know. She was a great friend when she was alive. Her name was Demona. So how about Demona?" Marissa smiled sweetly at her.

"Demona?" the gargoyle asked, thinking about it. "I like it. It sounds fierce."

Marissa smiled she hugged Demona. "A fierce name for a great warrior. Shall you or anyone of your clan need help I'm sure my queens kingdom will welcome you with open arms."

"I would like that," said Demona, hugging her back. "Thank you, lady Maria Evangeline."

"Please, just Maria," said Maria.

"Of course, Maria," said Dema Maria took a moment to think about something.

-A few days later-

The Vikings attacked during the day instead knight Maria tried her best to fight off them, but she was forced to the edge of the castle before falling off and landing hard onto the ground below.

"That takes care of that nuisance," said the viking leader. Little did he know the woman was still alive somehow. She landed next to Demona.

The woman lifted herself up a bit and was able to see her. This was puzzling. She remembered hearing that Goliath had left her in command while he and his mentor left to track the vikings, but why was she down here alone?

Marissa groaned she was in so much pain though. She wondered if she was gonna die. The sun set soon after. That was when Demona's stone skin broke off and she roared. Upon seeing Maria, she gasped.

"Maria! What happened?!" She frantically asked, picking her up.

"The Vikings attacked…..the leader pushed me off and I fell down here it's pretty bad." Maria choked her body definitely was trying to kill her.

"Hold on. I'll get you some help. Maybe a healer can cure you," Demona said while she held her and climbed up.

"Demona, no ones there. I tried to protect the others….." She choked coughing up blood. "Demona, I dont think I'm gonna make it…"

"Don't be ridiculous. I'm not giving up on you," Demona told her friend as she reached the top. She set Maria down and started calling for her clan. "Brothers! Sisters! I need help! Maria is badly hurt!"

As she ran, Demona got no responses and saw no gargoyles or humans. And then she found a piece of rubble and picked it up. She gasped at what she found. It was the face of one of her rookery brothers.

"Demona…." Maria reached up her hands she was trying to talk to her but her gloved hand fell. Her heart was barely beating.

Demona looked back and saw her friend. She ran to her as fast as she could.

"Maria, stay with me!" she cried out as she took her hand. "Please, don't give in! Maria!"

"She is dying. There is little you can do," a voice echoed in the air. "But if you wish to save her, you need only ask."

Demona looked around and there she saw a woman with long pink hair and green eyes her skin was a dark tan she wore a silver dress and silver shoes. "Of course there's a cost to every deal I make."

"I will pay any price to save her," Demona insisted.

"Ok I'll save her life then first I'll take some of your life force and revert her to a baby." The woman cheerfully said with a smile. "You'll have to rename her but she'll be the same person."

Demona looked down at the dying woman. She had a way to save her, but she also feared she would ruin her life. Although, it wouldn't matter if she has no life at all. She made her choice.

"I accept your terms," said Demona. "Save Maria."

"DeaI then." She drained some life from Demona it entered the woman her body shrunk and shifted into a baby. "And one more thing she she'll change form each night into what you are and should she die she'll be reborn and I'll tell you where she is so you can get her again."

Demona picked up the baby and wrapped her up in a blanket. "I understand. I will care for her and raise as my own. And I shall now call her Marissa."

The woman smiled disappearing into the darkness. Demona went over to the statues that were up top and frozen it was her beloved a stone during the night. Tears fell down her cheek as she held the one shred of hope left. The tears fell down to her beloved. And now her friend was a baby a baby gargoyle she had skin like Demona's and horns much like goliths but a more femme form and small little blonde gargoyle baby.

-Barn a few days later-

A boy was complaining about his chores while heading to the barn to milk the cow. Unbeknownst to him, something else was in the barn. It was a female gargoyle holding a baby. She was going through their stored food and gathering what she could for herself and her baby.

She froze when the door opened. Fearing for her child, she hid. As she stayed in her hiding place, the female gargoyle watched and listened as the boy came closer with a pitchfork. Once he made it to her, the gargoyle scratched his face.

"Ah! My face!" the boy screamed. He looked through his fingers and saw a female gargoyle holding a bundle and a bag.

"I have what I require. I will leave you with your life," said the gargoyle before departing.

She took the milk and food with her before running and gliding off with the baby in hand.

-Years later-

Marissa was working on a fire inside the cave as Demona came home she was a young gargoyle once again. But her mother's rules were specified. She wasn't allowed to leave the cave without an adult her wings curled around her as she brushed a hand through her blonde hair.

"Mother, you look different," Marissa said in amazement.

"What sorcery is this?" one of her clan asked.

"I have found a way to rid us of the Hunter and keep our clan safe for good," Demona declared. "I have formed an alliance with clan Moray. We will join them in their battle. And the Hunter shall die! And we shall never go hungry again!"

The gargoyles cheered for their leader. Marissa hugged her mother warmly.

Her mother rubbed her head the purple eyed blonde gargoyle girl was happy she was alive. And Demona was happy her daughter and friend was still here but she wasn't about to let her go into battle.

"Is something wrong?" Marissa asked her.

"Marissa, heed my words," Demona told her. "Stay here in the cave until the battle is over. I will return for you."

"Ok mother." Marissa sadly agreed Marissa took a seat when they all began to leave the cave.

Marissa had began to get memories back and though she understood Demona's protectiveness she still felt the urge to fight like she did when she was Maria all those years ago.

With little to do, Marissa picked up a stick and used it like a knight's sword. She pretended she was fighting one of her old foes as she swung her sword almost flawlessly.

She wished it wasn't so scary to be alone but she wished she could fight with them she wished she was an adult. Finally, Demona returned. She had a smile on her face.

"We won," said Demona. And then she extended her hand. "Come. I want you to meet someone."

Marissa was nervous she hadn't liked explaining why she turned into a human during the day and a gargoyle at night. Marissa exited the cave with Demona and was greeted by a bearded gray haired man. He had a gentle smile on his face.

"Marissa, this man is Macbeth. He gave his youth to me and I aided his army," Demona explained to her daughter.

"Hello." Marissa shyly said hiding behind her mother.

"Hello, Marissa," said Macbeth, smiling. "It is an honor to meet you."

Marissa was still nervous around the man. He looked trustworthy but she wasn't sure if she should talk to him or not.

"It's alright," Demona assured her. "He will not hurt us."

Marissa trusted her mothers judgement and approached the man she was calm and looked at him with respect. "I'm sorry. I'm not used to other people."

"Considering the life you and the others lived, it is perfectly understandable," Macbeth kindly told her.

Demona picked her up and they walked to were Macbeth's home was. Though Demona trusted her daughter, she still had her doubts about Macbeth and letting him know her daughters secret.

After he was named king, Macbeth made Demona his advisor and declared that this would be the beginning of a golden age of human and gargoyle alike. Though he was kept in the dark about Marissa's secret, he allowed her to train alongside his son Luach in the ways of the knight.

- years later after the attack-

Demona had assumed Macbeth would betray her clan to get favor from the English but she was betrayed by by the man she assumed she could trust. Little did he know his men didn't succeed in smashing the statues. One of the men came back with a female teen like gargoyle on him who and slit his throat as he ran then she saw her dead mother. And then men who most likely caused it.

She jumped onto to the former boy king and clawed at him swiping left and then piercing his throat until he died. Just then she heared luach voice.

"Mother!" Luach called as he came. And then he saw Macbeth. "No. Father!"

"I'm sorry. The king is dead," said Marissa while removing the crown. She placed it on the new kings head. "Long live Luach, high king of Scotland."

"Thank you, Marissa," said Luach. "You and your kin she'll never be forgotten."

Marissa took a deep breath. "Please I ask you a favor please take my life so I may lay to rest with my mother and please take the others somewhere safe."

"I will," said Luach sadly. "I swear on my honor and the memory of my father that your clan will be safe under my rule. And for generations to come."

With that thought, Marissa held still as Luach raised his sword. He shed a few tears as he pierced Marissa's heart. As she fell down to her death, the family said a silent prayer for their fallen heroine.

A shadow watched and smiled pulling the soul away from the dead body. "Well, dear Marissa, your mother will be getting a nice surprise of course your curse shall stand either way."

She held the soul close and went off to find a body to twist and shape to her old form once again.

Afterwards Luach left his fallen friend and went with his adviser to help out but the moment he was gone Demona awoke to none other then the body of her daughter and friend.

Demona mourned her loss before picking her up to give her a proper burial. Soon after she left, Macbeth awakened. He rushed to join the battle, only to discover his son wearing his crown. Knowing that he himself would bring fear to everyone, Macbeth decided to remain dead and left his home and family. He prayed his son would be a wise and just king.

-With Demona-

The woman from before stood before Demona. "Now now don't cry your daughter is not lost just as the knight is not."

"You mean, she is to be reborn?" Demona asked hopefully.

"Yes I sent her soul into the body of a baby you'll find her and you can do what you wish take the child or something she'll look the same and like before will remember you but only after you meet her third and fourth incarnations may take longer to remember and only when love fills your heart she'll you'll age as normal and she'll she not be brought back. And I will end Macbeth's misery myself once that day come." The woman said in a gentle tone before giving Demona a ring. "Now you'll be able to find her."

"Thank you," said Demona, gratefully. "I will go find her and make sure she is safe."

"Have fun the goddess of deals gotta go make a bargain with Odin." The female goddess said before disappearing.

-1973 New York-

A baby was born with blonde hair and purple eyes much like Marissa which was what the parents had named her. They found out about the curse quite quickly but her father didn't care and neither did her older sister.

"Why would you want to be named after an animal. Is it because your sly like a Fox?" The father of the girl with reddish hair asked.

"I guess you could say that, daddy," the girl answered with a smirk.

"Well, your name is Janine," said the father while feeding the baby. "That is the name on your birth certificate, and that is what I will call you."

Marissa sucked on the bottle happily it was kinda cute. Demona watched from above she was gonna swipe the baby. As soon as she was alone.

"Mari sure is hungry," Janine commented, looking at the little girl happily. She hated the night time. Marissa was so sweet. Her father placed her into the bed she and her father left.

Demona used her claws to cut a hole in the window. And then she stuck her hand inside and opened it to enter.

She quickly grabbed the baby and held her happily. She took off with the baby in hand and glided off. Mr. Renard would walk in the next hour and discover his baby daughter gone. Janine would discover the same and swear revenge against whoever took her sister.
