ZACK

His mouth pressed to hers, hand entangled in her hair. The space between them reduced to nothing as their chests stopped rising, stopped filling with precious air. He felt the wetness of her tears flooding his own face and had to wrench away, resting their foreheads together. His eyes never left her beautiful gaze, he traced her face—to remember it later when he was gone from her touch. He felt himself falling through, he didn't have much left to hold on to, but she held him steady, allowing him his last few breaths of peace. Her eyes never stopped leaking tears; they flooded her face, causing hazy images in his own. She was suffering, because of him.

"Aeris," He mumbled softly to her, feeling instinctively her hand coming up to his face, violently. He caught it, causing a jagged breath to escape her. "Aeris…"

"Don't say my name!" She cried to him, he winced, her pain transferring into his own. If only he could stay with her forever, she wouldn't have to hate him now.

"Aeris…"

"Stop it!"

He stepped back, watching her eyes widen and then narrow again. Their hands fell apart, and she stared down, praying with her hands curled together, praying for his life essence to stay. Sadly he stepped forward, moving through her, he kept walking, hearing her silent screams. He knelt in front of the flowers of the run down church, touching them gently for the last time. He turned back to her, watching her tremble, a feeling floated over him, glancing upward he knew it was all over.

He held up his hand intrigued by the essence floating away from him, her tears were washing away with his own. He forced his eyes shut, cursing his fate, she'd be okay, he had to believe it.

AERIS

She spun around, not wanting to have their last moment tainted by her anger. Not to him, she'd never be angry to him—only, only to herself. She should have been able to save him; the planet had no right to steal him from her. She watched, horrified as the greenish matter flowed out of Zack, disintegrating his human form. She could hardly see from the flood escaping her insides. Shakily she raised her hand, as if to touch him, his eyes were closed. As if he was merely going into a sleep.

"Zack…" Her voice broke, and her knees gave way, just as the last of him faded. "Zack!"
