A/N: This is a short little story I wrote to accompany my other LOK story about the new avatar, Dimian. This is just a little theory as to what could've possibly happened to Sokka and Suki.
I was six at the time. Master Katara, Toph, and Fire Lord Zuko had all passed. Aang was long gone. But there was a question bugging me that just wouldn't go away. "Momma," I said, turning to the green-eyed woman. "What happened to Sokka and Suki?"
She beckoned me to her lap and I sat there, waiting. "Well, Dimian, it's not the happiest tale. Okay, so back in Korra's time, there was an evil group of people called the Red Lotus running around and trying to take away Korra. Well, Sokka and Suki; both members of the good, benevolent White Lotus, did what they could to stop the Red Lotus when they attempted to kidnap Korra. During the fight, Sokka was injured severely. Ming-Hua, the water-bender, slashed his leg open with some ice!" I gasped. "That's really bad! Did he die!?" I pressed. "No, he didn't die right away. Katara, his sister, was able to heal the wound fairly quickly. However, infection slipped past her healing and spread like poison through him, and within a week of the injury, he was dead."
I started to cry. Sokka was an amazing warrior, and he just died of infection!? Mom patted my head and told me soothing things until I calmed down. "A-and what about S-Suki?" Mom smiled, but it wasn't a happy grin. It was more like she was amused by my naivety and she had much more knowledge than I did. "You know that Suki was Sokka's wife, right? Well, poor lady was so grief-stricken by his death that she died only two weeks after he did. Died of a broken heart."
This was so sad! They were so cool and awesome, and they were dead?! I almost couldn't comprehend it, but Mom told me that everybody eventually died, and that's just how life was. Suddenly, something was brought to my attention. "Momma, Suki was a Kyoshi Warrior, right?" Mom nodded. "Yes. She was actually the leader." I looked down, gears turning in my head as I slowly spat out the question. "So...what happened to the Kyoshi Warriors? Are they still around?" Mom laughed, amused. "Now that is a story for another time, dear Dimian."
