Luke Skywalker sits cross legged in the dimly lit hut and the gentle light of the fire dances across his face. His eyes are closed and he can feel the warmth of the fire caressing him as he stretches his awareness through the force. Luke can sense the waves moving in the sea and the stars watching in space. How long has he been in this state he wonders? Hours? Days? The fire reminds him of its warmth and he knows it hasn't been days.
Luke feels himself flowing through space and the force is guiding him. He feels it picking up speed and he almost feels like he is falling, but he manages to stay with the force. It guides him through the galaxy and he is shocked to discover when he arrives before Princess Leia, his sister. Confusion fills him and anxiety twitches at his heart. Why did the force bring him to her?
Suddenly, Luke sees the sight of a horribly burned Anakin Skywalker, his father, laying on an operating table. The fear and darkside storms around Anakin as he lays in agony and is dying. He watches as driods attach cybernetic limbs, but Anakin remains dying. A dark tendril of the force moves into the room and teases Anakin. Anakin in his fear, agony, and desperation reaches out for Padme. Sweat breaks out on Luke's face as Anakin's life fades and the driods work around him. Anakin finds her, clings to her, and his heart stops as the driods lower the helmet of Darth Vader on him. He won't let her go and grips hold of her tightly through the darkside. His heart beats again, Padme's heart stops, and he takes his first breath as Darth Vader.
Luke's vision shifts away from Darth Vader as he breaks free and he sees the lifeless body of Padme. He feels sadness and a terrible loss as his view slowly drifts toward his sister. He doesn't understand what the force is showing him, but he waits patiently. Slowly he begins to see another baby almost completely mirroring where his sister's is, but in another universe. The two were connected by the force even though in separate universes and it is because of this other being, Leia was able to survive the darkside energy drain done by his dying father. He sees the faint blue glow around Leia and remembers seeing it a few times in the past, but always thought it was the force and not another being.
Luke's vision shifts back to the present day Princess Leia and he can see the blue glow around her as she gives orders and direction. He always admired his sister's strength and leadership and his heart drops as the blue glow begins to fade. A great disturbance flows outward as the blue glow fades and dies along with the being from the other universe. His eyes flash open and he realizes he is crying. His heart aches for this being responsible for saving and helping give his sister life. Why did the force have to show him this? Why did he never notice to begin with? He tries to reassure himself with the fact Princess Leia is fine, but he feels like he has just witness the death of someone just as important to him.
Luke Skywalker sees the fire has almost died and he slowly rises to his unsteady feet. The tears won't stop and his heart aches, but he knows that is normal when stricken with grief. He wonders if this is the sort of thing Obi-Wan experienced at his place on Tattoonie before Luke met him. The tears don't stop and Luke decides a grave should be dug on the cliff to honor this being's passing. With a heavy heart, Luke Skywalker goes to dig a grave and he won't rest until the task is finished.
