One day during a friendly chat over some sake, Shunsui decides to ask Kenpachi a question…

"Hey, Kenpachi?" Shunsui casually asked.

"What?"

"Purple's a royal color right? Like a color a noble would wear?"

"Yea. Where are you goin' with this?"

Shunsui looked at him for a while, silent, then asked, "Are you descended form royalty?" He sported a perfectly straight face as he said this.

"What!? How could I? I'm from the worst place you can come from. Where'd you get a crazy idea like that?" Kenpachi gave Shunsui a look that said, "And just how drunk are you?"

"Well then why is the inside of your captain's coat purple?"

"I don't know!"

"I'm going to research this!" Shunsui said, jumping up and walking off.

"Oh no." Kenpachi shook his head, knowing that once Shunsui got one of his ideas it was hard to stop him. And unfortunately for poor Kenpachi, Shunsui had Nanao on his side.

(A/N how Shunsui finds the information below is strictly confidential! Only Shunsui and Nanao know.

Shunsui sat amidst towers of books, books stretching to the ceiling. This was a VERY rare sight. Of course Nanao was helping him, going through books much faster than Shunsui (slow reader).

"Hey, Nanao-chan?"

"What for the billionth time?"

"What does cryptosporidium mean?"

(Insert big, long explanation that only Nanao could understand here.)(A/N if you want to know what it means, please look it up, I don't want to type it.) You idiot! Nanao then threw a dictionary at him.

XXXXX 2 days, 5 hours, and 59 seconds later XXXXXX

"I found it!" Shunsui yelled, throwing books into the air.

(A/N dun dun dun…….)

Poor, unsuspecting Kenpachi sat at his desk, bored. Yachiru happily ate candy she "confiscated" for health reasons from who knows where.

Suddenly Shunsui burst into Kenpachi's office. "I found it!" he yelled.

"Found what?" a confused Kenpachi replied.

"You, my friend, are descended form the ancient nobles the kenpickins!" (A/N please don't laugh I couldn't think of anything better….)

"How did you find that out? I don't even have my actual last name."

"I have my ways." Shunsui replied.

And so it was discovered, much to his dismay, that Kenpachi Zaraki, was, in fact, royalty.

Case solved.
