Chapter 1
"You're up Jay." Abbi said as she passed him a dodgeball and sat on the bench next to him. Jay stood and laughed.
"Who am I aiming for?" He asked with a slight smile as he looked out at the other team. Abbi pointed at a male on the other side of the hall. He smirked and walked towards the half-way mark. He held the ball in one hand, easily dodging any that came at him. He rolled to the left as the male threw a ball at him. He quickly stood and threw his ball back at him, catching his leg. Jay smirked and ducked under an incoming ball before walking back to Abbi, though still in the game. "That guy?" She smiled at him.
"Yeah, that guy…" She replied.
He smirked and ran back out into the centre of the action dodging, catching or throwing back any balls that came his way. Eventually the game ended with him and Abbi being the only ones left. They smiled at each other and bumped fists, before joining the others for a brief rundown.
About twenty minutes later, after showering and changing, Abbi and Jay met up in the hall. They exchanged pleasantries and headed down to the mess hall to eat. Once they'd got their food they sat at a table next to two other females.
"How was training?" One asked as she toyed with her meal.
"Pretty good Newt." Jay replied. "How's the experiment going?"
"Great, actually." Newt replied. "I- sorry, we, isolated the Kaiju female's genetic substance and began the splicing process- you guys don't care, right?"
"We just don't get it…" Replied the second girl.
"You don't get anything Hollie." Newt said as Jay and Abbi ate.
"Oh yeah? Explain how a Jaeger's shock absorbers work under water."
Newt glared at her and turned back to Jay and Abbi. "How's piloting, pilots?"
"We're not pilots yet." Abbi responded.
"Whatever, how's nearly being a pilot then?"
"Good."
"Who crapped in your cornflakes?" Hollie asked with a mouthful of food.
"She got out in dodgeball." Jay said with a slight laugh.
"That's not true…" she replied, smiling slightly.
"It's ok I got her back in…" He said, laughing a bit more. She lightly punched his shoulder.
They all ate for a bit in silence before Hollie broke said silence. "So, what're you guys doing later?"
Jay shrugged. "Nothing." The other two nodded in agreement. "Why?" He asked.
"You guys want to come over to my place later?" She asked.
"Your place?" Jay asked with a slight chuckle. "Your 'place' is a small dorm. Just like all of ours."
"Well excuse me for wanting to hang out with you guys…" Hollie replied sarcastically.
"I'm kidding, geez…" He replied. "I'll drop by"
"Sounds cool, I'm in." Abbi said.
"Me too, I guess." Newt added. "See you guys later then." She continued as she stood to leave.
"Yeah, me too." Jay said.
"Same here" Abbi added on.
"Yeah I've probably got something to do…" Hollie said as she stood with the others before they all went their separate ways.
NOTE: This chapter was kind of rushed as I decided on Sunday, maybe Saturday I don't know, that I was going to upload a new chapter for a story each Tuesday. So year next week is Star Wars – Darkness Rising. So yeah. Stay tuned I guess.
