The snow was falling down like clouds from the sky. Harry loved the way it landed in Ginny's blazing red hair as she walked by his side, hand in hand. He looked to his left to see Ron and Hermione laughing at something he had said. Everything was perfect. Harry had his two best friends on one side and the love of his life on the other.
"Watch out for the ice, Gin," Harry cautioned with a laugh as he saw the potential danger ahead.
"Harry, when will you learn I'm not a little kid anymore?" She joked.
"Yeah Harry, geez, whats wrong with you?" Ron mocked him.
"Never again will I take you three out in public! All you do is embarrass me!" Hermione added with a fierce snarl.
Hermione wasn't really mad at them, and the three knew this. The four slowly made their way through Hogsmead,. looking at the various shops and restaurants. Harry was having an amazing time. He loved spending time with the three most important people in his life; even if it was just going on a stroll at twilight with the snow crunching beneath his feet with each step. Harry, not unlike his friends, loved winter. He loved the snow falling on the ground and the little kids having snow ball fights until their parents made them come inside.
"Harry, I think your cloak is too long, it's getting all wet from the snow," Ginny told him with a concerned voice, interrupting his thoughts.
"Ginny, when will you learn that I'm not a little kid anymore?" He repeated her words from earlier. When she went to say what he was sure to be a witty remark he silenced her with a kiss.
"Oi! Mate, what did I say about kissing her in front of me? You're gonna regret that!" His best friend yelled at him.
Harry feigned fright and retaliated to Ron, "Oh! I'm scared mate. What are you gonna do eat me?"
"Very funny, Harry," Ron responded.
"Boys, stop. Can we just go into the Three Broomsticks already?" Hermione intervened.
"Yes! Harry, I want a hot chocolate!" Ginny told Harry while batting her eyes like a six year old trying to get ice cream.
"Sure sweetie," Harry answered her while pushing the door open and walking into the pub. He looked around at the people sitting around tables and in booths. Everyone was in hats, mittens, and winter coats; dressed warmly, no matter how muggle they had to go. He saw four kids sitting in the corner with snow in their hair, cheeks beat red from the cold. They had obviously just had a snow ball fight and were coming in to warm up before, undoubtedly, going back out to play.
It surprised Harry how much he could talk about children seeing as he never had much of a childhood himself. The Dursely's would never have let him go out and play in the snow. He had far too many chores to do that. Plus, what was the point since he didn't have any friends to play with anyway? For some strange reason he was smiling at the thought that he didn't have any friends when he was little. It was probably due to the fact that he could have had any friend he wanted when he found out he was a wizard and left for Hogwarts, seeing as he was the-boy-that-lived.
"What are you smiling at Harry?" Ginny asked him with a confused look on her face.
"Oh, nothing," Harry replied in a daze, turning his head to look on the window and see the snow falling softly before sitting down with his true family.
