Disclaimer: I don't own anything of Torchwood; it all belongs to the BBC and the wonderful writers. The snatches from the song belong to Elton John.

Note: Inspiration came to me when I was listening to John Barrowman's version of Can You Feel the Love Tonight? So here is a fic.

Hands on his shoulders, slow considerate touches, meaningful glances that seemed to bring peace to his chaotic mind and to help him focus on the here and now. It helped him to focus on what truly mattered and not on the things that had happened years ago and were a dark reminder of things to come.

A quick knock on his door, a fleeting smile as his coffee was delivered, the eyes that sparkled when they saw him or the warm hands that helped him and out of his coat. It was all so meaningful to him and it made him feel humble.

He didn't have to pretend. He didn't have to be funny, charismatic, mean, cold hearted or any other disguise that had become like a second skin to him because of all the things he had seen and done. He could be himself. He didn't have to be the brave, witty captain of Torchwood. He could simply be Jack.

There was no judgment in the beautiful eyes of his lover when he returned to the Hub from another late mission, weary and heart sore.

An enchanted moment and it sees me through, it is enough for this restless warrior, just to be with you.

He had seen so many beautiful worlds, known so many people but rarely if never did he feel so at peace as when he beheld Ianto.

There were no words to describe all the feelings this beautiful young man roused in him but Jack knew he was utterly and irrevocably bound to this human who wasn't only his equal but superior in every other way. And this man had chosen to waste his time on Jack, a con man from the 51st century.

But for all the worlds he had seen and for all the galaxies he had crossed, it didn't mean anything as long as he was with Ianto.

It was because in the moments when Ianto held him or in the moments stolen at the Hub that Jack knew he belonged and would always belong to Ianto Jones. A big part of him would forever remain, no matter what would happen, with the quite Welshman. And Jack feared it may just be the be the most important part. It was a part that not many people could ever claim they owned a part of his heart.

He had known many people and had loved many but he didn't just let everybody in his heart anymore. He had learned his lesson too well.

There is a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors when the heart of this star crossed voyager beats in time with yours.

But Jack knew just where he was as he gazed down at the relaxed and beautiful face of Ianto as the younger man slept in his arms. He was home.

And it didn't matter if everybody thought him mad or that he was indulging himself or playing with Ianto. He knew different and that was what mattered. He knew that what he felt was real.

Can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are.

So he leaned down and whispered, "I love you."

For a long moment nothing happened but then Ianto turned in his arms to bury his head against Jack's chest and mumbled, "I love you too."

And as Jack smiled and tightened his arms around Ianto, he knew that after all those countless years and endless journeys he was finally home.

The end

So what do you think?
