Professor Sharon Raydor was hurrying down the lecture hall, hoping to make it on time to her meeting with the department head. She has been in California for all of two months and she still hasn't collected herself. New York was kind to her - after all it was her home state - but with all of her kids in either higher education or pursuing their dreams, she felt the need for change.

What better way than going from NYPD to academics? She was qualified for the job, having earned her Master's while serving as a high ranking police officer. Deep down inside though, she knew she wanted to contribute to education. When a friend suggested she apply for a position at UCLA, she jumped at the chance.

Sharon was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't see the other person and instantly collided into them, effectively dropping her files.

Groaning, she bent down to retrieve her things and began to apologize. "I'm so sorry, oh my God, where was my head at?"

When she finally looked up she saw a beautiful blonde with almost sky blue like eyes. "It's alright. Every once in a while I get lost in my thoughts while walking too."

The blonde handed her some of the papers that fell. She saw a name atop one of the files. "Are you Sharon Raydor?"

Sharon finally tore her gaze away from her face and grabbed the files. Suddenly feeling shy, she tucked an errant strand of hair behind her ear. "Y-yes, that's me. New criminal justice professor on the block."

"Honor to meet you then," the blonde extended her hand, "Andrea Hobbs. Heard a lot of good things about you. Just the person we need in the criminal justice department."

"Oh, I'm flattered," Sharon adjusted the files in her hand.

Andrea smiled at her and reached into her purse for a business card. "I'm sure you've got your hands full preparing for the upcoming semester, but when you're free give me a call or visit my office. I'd love to continue chatting and getting to know you better."

"Of course, definitely," she looked down at her card, "thank you, Dr. Hobbs."

"Oh please, call me Andrea. Save the title for the students. Well, I'm not going to keep you any longer, so I hope you get acclimated and find UCLA to your liking, Professor Raydor." Andrea gave her one last smile before walking off.

Sharon stood there, awestruck. Finally, she snapped out of her reverie and quickly placed her business card next to her phone in her purse.

As she rushed to her meeting her thoughts drifted back to Andrea. She couldn't wait for her meeting to be over so she could give her a call. She'd love to continue getting to know her as well. Perhaps she'd love to meet again over a cup of coffee.
