I Just Have To

As Agent Booth led his partner out the door, he heard Gordon-Gordon switch the music back on, and he smiled. Then turning back to Brennan, he was (as always) struck dumb by her beauty. It had become almost a routine: look at Bones, brain falls out. Despite the regularity with which this phenomenon occurred, each time felt new and wonderful.

The partners made their way downstairs and out the door of his building. Stepping into the night, she glanced up at the sky. "Look, Booth," she exclaimed, grabbing his arm. "It's a full moon."

Seeing her face lit up by the lunar glow and the soft light of the street lamps, he threw caution to the wind and decided to go for it. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, and he pressed his lips to hers with a swiftness and fervor that surprised them both. He kissed her and she kissed back, tugging him nearer to her.

And then just as suddenly, he pulled back, turned around, and walked to the driver's side of his car. For a moment, Brennan just stood there, a hand to her lips which had so recently been employed in an activity that took her very breath away. Then she smiled to herself and got into the car. Neither of them said a word as he started the car and pulled away.

Gordon, meanwhile, had abandoned his cooking and had been standing at the window. Having witnessed the entire scene, he resumed humming and ambled off with a grin glued to his face.
