You and I
Love?
I remember the moment I first felt the sensation capture my very being.
I denied it then.
I couldn't understand the feeling.
Over time it grew stronger, but still I kept you at a distance.
I refused to accept the emotions through my body coursing.
I'm only fond of you, the phrase rang relentlessly in my head as if a mantra.
But every time I caught you staring,
I felt a sort of bliss I couldn't name
And I started noticing,
I'd never felt as strongly for anyone as I did for you.
So I found myself seeking.
I'd always come back to you, forgetting the reason for which I left;
For the sound of your voice I was begging.
Though I'd never admit it, you'd always been my one weakness.
You see, I've always been the strong one, never crying or weeping.
Giving myself to you would only give me reason to.
But every word, every gaze made me feel as if I was worth something.
I'd never felt wanted or beautiful, though some said I was.
You somehow gave me those things.
