Summary: A storm blows through and Bruce remembers one of the first storms he and Dick experienced together (Every thing in bold italics is a flashback)

Bruce had just got back from patrolling, all night he had been watching the angry storm clouds roll in and decided to come home early. Once home he changed and went to his room. Just as he predicted there was a roll of thunder, he thought little of it and went back to reading when there was a knock on his door.

"Com-"Bruce started but was cut off by a flash of lightning as the door opened and something dove under the covers. Bruce jumped up and looked at the bed, he poked at what had just dived under them and got a small giggle in response. He gently pulled back the covers to see his 8 year old adopted son shaking a little, trying to hide from the storm.

"Dick what are you doing it's the middle of the night!" Bruce asked taking the small child into his arms.

"I don't like storms!" Dick cried as there was another clap of thunder; he covered his ears and closed his eyes. Bruce gently traced comforting circles around the boy's back.

"There's nothing to be afraid of" Bruce told the small child as he began to pace the room.

"But there scary!" Dick said shaking a little more.

"Let's go back to your room, ok" Bruce said hoping his son would fall asleep soon.

They walked down the long hallway and came to a stop at Dick's door, Bruce opened it and walked in, set the child on his bed and prepared to walk out when a small hand wrapped around his own,

"Stay" Dick said softly "Please"

Bruce sat on the bed when there was another flash of lightning causing Dick to jump forward and grab onto Bruce's arm. Reacting to this, Bruce held the small boy in his arms and began to rub his back again, slowly rocking him. It wasn't long until his son had fallen asleep, at last. Bruce placed him in his bed again and sat awhile to watch the storm. He finally stood up and walked to the door. Before he closed it he looked back at Dick, He wasn't scared like earlier. Alfred had walked behind Bruce and tapped him, almost making him jump.

"Master Bruce I heard you and Master Dick talking and it's been quiet for awhile I just wanted to make sure everything was all right." Alfred said.

"You know Alfred it's amazing, just a month ago I didn't know I'd have a child to care for, and I'm not saying that in a bad way, when you get special moment like these, it makes all the stresses of being a parent worth it." Bruce said closing his son's door," It is isn't it Master Bruce." Alfred said smiling at Bruce's realization.

5 years later:

Bruce was sitting at his desk, typing on the computer, hearing the storm that was blowing through outside. His eyes fell on a picture of him and Dick on his desk, it was taking a while ago, but with the storm going on, it somehow reminded him of how Dick would run to his room during thunderstorm; his thoughts were interrupted by a knock, "Come in" Bruce called.

Dick strolled in "Hey …mind if I stay in here awhile?" The thirteen year old asked "It's storming" He said sitting on the bed.

"I thought you weren't scared of storms anymore" Bruce said with a laugh.

"I not, I just wanted to come sit here like I used to when there was a thunder storm, and I'm pretty sure there's thunder out there!" Dick responded hearing a clap of thunder.

Truth be told, Dick still came in Bruce's room when it stormed, but after every storm he said he'd be fine the next one, even though he was fine when the next storm came around he found himself walking in, it was kind of a habit.

Bruce smiled; raising a child was truly amazing.

Ok guys hope you liked it. I was scared of storms so this was an easy one-shot, hope you liked it. Kind of tacky ending, but oh well! :D
