A/N: It's been ages since I've written something, and this is very incoherent. So, hum, enjoy?

DUTY

All she wanted was her own life.

She wanted to be herself, she wanted to have friends and to go somewhere without having to worry about her brother.

Bianca remembered very well what the lawyer, Mrs. Dodds, she presented herself, had told her when she dropped both Bianca and Nico at Westover Hall:

"You must take care of your brother. It is your duty as the eldest child."

Bianca wasn't too surprised with that. Even at the Lotus Hotel and Casino she always tried her best to look out for Nico. It just seemed natural. She couldn't even remember if she had taken care of Nico before, the memories of her life before the Casino were simply gone. All she knew was that she had lived in Washington DC, and that wasn't much.

At the time, she was sure she could handle it.

But Nico wasn't that easy to handle. For some reason, he was always in trouble either with fellow students or the teachers. She had noticed that the vice principal, Dr. Thorn, had been giving Nico some strange looks for a while now.

Little did she know, he had been giving her the same looks.

So when she was given a new life, a life out of the duty of being the big sister and just be herself, she accepted. She wanted to be Bianca, and not, Nico's big sister.

All too soon she regretted it.

Not because she didn't like Artemis and her hunters, but because she saw the look Nico had given her.

But she was giving him a chance too. To be Nico, and not Bianca's little brother.

She wanted him to grow up to be a nice and decent boy by himself. She wanted him to be independent, autonomic, whatever the word it is.

She was giving him a chance too, why couldn't he see that?

She later decided to show that to Nico, to show that she cared just as much as she used to. So when she saw that little figurine in that dump of beauty, that figurine that meant so much to him, she didn't think twice. She put it in her pocket.

Certainly the gods had better things to do than spying on five kids.

She knew it had been her fault. She knew she had to sacrifice herself to let the others live. Out of the five, she was sure she was the least important.

Duty. That's what her life was full of. As a friend, as a member of the hunt and as a sister.
