Katniss stares at gale in sadness wanting so badly to run to him and throw her arms around him but she stopped herself and watched jun walk up to the stage. Rue starts to cry and starts to run to the stage. RUE NO! Yells katniss. She trys to run after her but its too late rue is already on the stage. Haymitch stops her and begins to shoo her off the stage but rue runs past him and says in a loud voice. I WILL TAKE HIS PLACE! The crowd is in awe they haven't seen such bravery since… since katniss bravely sacrificed herself for her sister prim. The mayor looks at rue in disbelief. Katniss turns to see gale starring at her. Katniss felt like a shadow of nostalgia and fear cast over her. The mayor looks at rue. Oh? You will sacrifice your freedom for him? Rue looks over at her parents than at Jun who is starring straight at her. Yes. Says rue. I will take his place for his safety. The mayor looks at the crowd and laughs. Well ladies and gentlemen says the mayor. Love comes to the rescue once again! The crowd cheers as katniss falls to her knees crying. Peeta leans down to hold her than looks at haymitch in disgust. The crowd quiets down to hear who the new male tribute will be but before the mayor chooses the tribute a man comes over and whispers something in the mayors ear. It seems there will be only one tribute this year for each district! Says the mayor. Katniss looks up in astonishment. No…says haymitch. The crowd boos the mayor and rue looks more frightened than she ever has in her life. Haymitch walks over and puts his hands on her shoulders to try to calm her down as the crowd begins to scatter away. Back at katniss's house rue, Peeta, katniss, and haymitch sit in silence. Haymitch blurts out I will train her. As I did with you two. Katniss looks at haymitch than at rue. Do you really want to do this? She says. Yes says rue. Than there's a knock at the door Peeta walks over to answer it. He opens the door and there stands gale and jun. is rue here? Says jun. yes says Peeta . can I talk to her? Sure says peeta as gale walks inside starring right at peeta in a deathly way. Gale? Says katniss. Hey says gale. Jun has something to say. Jun walks over to rue, rue blushes as he walks over. What you did today I am eternally grateful. says jun. it was nothing. says rue. No it was huge I don't know what came over you but thank you. The room is silent than rue speaks. Well you know when you love someone you'll do anything to protect them. Jun looks up at her in awe gale looks at rue like she's crazy. Peeta looks at her the same way. Haymitch chuckles as he sips the bottle of white liquor. Jun and gale leave and another silent moment started in the room. Well rue says haymitch your training starts tomorrow so be prepared. The next day rue comes down stairs to find her parents and haymitch. Ready? Says haymitch. Yes says rue. Wait a sec rue says katniss I want you to take this. Katniss pulls out her mocking jay pin and puts on rues jacket. Mom I cant take this. Says rue. No its ok it brought me good luck during my time in the arena and it should do the same for you.
