Its been about a week since rue and juns parents left for the capital to find rues mother. And they have gotten no word from any of them. I'm worried says rue. Don't worry says jun they said they would come back and they will come back. I don't know says rue. Do you trust me? Says jun. rue turns over to jun and kisses him. Of course she says. The day go's slow there's nothing to do but wait for word from the others. Jun turns on the tv to the news and see a giant headline 3 MEN FOUND IN CAPITAL SENTENCED TO DEATH. oh my god NO! says rue. A reporter appears on the screen and begins to talk. Three men all from district 12 have been found trying to infiltrate the capital for reasons unknown two of the men are very important people one is haymitch Abernathy a chaperone and teacher for district 12s hunger games and the victor of the 50th hunger games the other is Peeta mellark one of the victors of the 74th hunger games. NO! says jun. the reason they are here authorities do not know but all three have been sentenced to death on July 31. Jun turns off the tv and throws the remote at the wall. What are we going to do? Says jun. I don't know says rue. There's a long silence then out bursts rue. How many days does it take to get to the capital? Jun looks over at rue in confusion. 3 days maybe he says. What's today? Asks rue. July 4th says jun. well then we have no choice says rue. We have to go to the capital ourselves. Juns looks at her like she's joking. But she's dead serious. Ok, says jun. lets get packed. Rue packs her clothes but not many she wants to stay light on her feet she learned that from her mother. Rue searches the room if she had forgot anything then she looks on her bed stand the mocking jay pin she walks over picks it up and pins it on her coat. A single tear comes from rues eye but she refuses to cry anymore than that. Rue walks downstairs to find jun ready as well. Are you ready? he asks. Rue nods her head. Then lets go. says jun. they walk out the door rue locks the door behind her.
Rue and jun have walked more than 30 miles already and they haven't eaten since breakfast so they sit down to catch there breath. God…says jun. how many more miles are left? Umm? rue pulls out a map and looks all around it. Um about 323 more miles. Says rue. Theres a pause and gale has a disgusted look on his face. Fantastic. He says. Jun looks at the sky. Its getting dark we should camp here for the night. Says jun. okay says rue. Rue sets up her sleeping bag and gets settled in when she notices jun just sitting there with no sleeping bag. Where's your sleeping bag? Asks rue. I forgot it says jun. rue looks at him with a raised eyebrow. Come over here she says. He walks over and climbs inside the sleeping bag with her and holds her. You forgot your sleeping bag on purpose didn't you? Asks rue. Mmhm. Says jun. rue giggles than falls asleep in juns arms. END OF CHAPTER 5
