The night was absolutely stunning, but Hermione could hardly make it out through blurred, teary eyes. She had no idea what had even come over her. Why should she care if Ron was snogging Lavender? It's not like they were an item or something.
Still, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of anger and, was it possibly...jealousy? She walked into an empty corridor and rested her elbows on an open window. It was twilight, the sky danced with vibrant pinks, purples, and oranges.
She sighed. She knew she shouldn't waste her time bawling over something she didn't even understand when she should be studying in the library, but she couldn't stop crying. It was after the colorful sky had gone and was quickly replaced by an inky black sky freckled with specks of white, that she had seemingly run out of tears.
She sighed and was about to turn around to go back to her dormitorywhen she heard a shuffle of robes behind her. She panicked, realizing it could very well be a teacher and she was out of her dormitorypast dark. She spun around and squinted. It was impossible to make anything out as this was an unlit, barren corridor.
She heard another fidgeting of robes and then she heard a huff of air just feet away from her, fueling her panic. A petite faint pink light floated from where the stranger was standing but didn't give off enough light for her to see her intruder. She felt unmistakably mesmerized of the light and found that she couldn't blink or look away as the light grew nearer and nearer.
The closer it came, the more detail came into view. It moved even closer yet, so that it was all but touching the tip of her nose. Her eyes were wide and mystified as she peered in at the bubble. She saw it was not just a light, but a translucent pink bubble containing two miniscule fairies, a man and a woman, dancing a gloriously beautiful dance.
A twinkling song hovered from the bubble, sweet and angelic. The man was holding her close and spinning her around and around. She was absolutely beautiful, she had long, flowing blonde hair tainted pink like everything else, and wore a long elaborate gown that hovered around her and the man she was dancing with. He wore a handsome tux that seemed from a different time. His face was sweet, kind and gentle. He gazed at her with unmistakable love and devotion. She returned the gaze.
The twinkling lullaby came to a close, as did the dancing. They both stopped and faced Hermione, still embracing each other, and smiled so sweetly Hermione felt herself grinning mistily back. She gasped suddenly as a loud 'POP' broke her of her trance. The pink bubble containing the mesmerizing fairies vanished leaving behind a beautiful rose that paused only for a moment before it fell.
She caught it before it hit the ground. It was the most beautiful magic she had ever seen. She knew how difficult it would have been to conjure. It would have taken an immense amount of time, devotion, and… real love. She spun around as she heard the shuffle of retreating footsteps. She caught only a flicker of unmistakable red hair before the figure turned around the corner.
