Hey there! This is just a fluffy drabble about Arc and his name :3 I do not own Final Fantasy or its characters, they belong to Square Enix.
Enjoy...
"Mommy?" A five year old Arc tugged at his mother's skirt.
Nina looked down from the sink – where she was cleaning dishes – and looked at Arc with soft smile. "Yes, dear?"
"Can I ask you a question?" Arc said, swinging back and forth.
"Of course, dear."
Arc put on a thinking face, as if he forgot what he was going to ask. Or more so, how he would word this question. "Why am I called, Arc?"
Nina bit her bottom lip. "Um…" She murmured. Nina knew the reason why she and Topapa named their son 'Arc'. When Arc, was only a newborn, he was left on Nina's doorstep. Nina and Topapa had heard that there was an airship crash not too far away from Ur, and that there were not many survivors. Nina discovered that Arc was one of the survivors, meaning his parents had died in the crash. So, Arc was left on Nina's doorstep in a basket filled with blankets and a tag. The tag had vital information on it, like Arc's date of birth, name, age and other information. Although his other information like his date of birth and age was readable, his name was barely readable. Only a few letters were readable, the letters being 'a', 'r' and 'c', which looked a little bit like a 'k'. So, out of the letters that could be read, Nina had dubbed her foster son 'Arc'. She also got the name from a necklace that was placed in the basket, which was a moon in an arc shape. But Nina couldn't tell Arc all of this. After all, he was only five, and she couldn't just tell him that she wasn't Arc's real mother. She had to think up something. And fast.
"Um…" Nina murmured.
Arc looked up at her with his small, chocolate-brown eyes, swinging back and forth, waiting for an answer.
"Well," Nina began, as she got down on both of her knees, to get to Arc's height, or just about his height. "You are called Arc, because of your smile."Really, Nina? 'Your smile'?
"My smile?" Arc asked, perplexed.
"Yes, your smile." Nina smiled. "Your smile – when you were a baby - had such a lovely shape, because it was shaped just like an arc."
"And, an arc is like a curve, right?" Arc asked innocently.
"Correct. Does that clear things up for you?" Nina replied back, moving a strand of his hair out of his eyes.
Arc nodded frantically. He hugged Nina. "Thank you, Mommy."
Nina hugged him back. "You're welcome, sweetheart…" Her voice became a bit crackly. I dread the day where I have to tell you… Nina let go of Arc, and Arc done the same. "Now, go find Luneth. I'm sure he wants to play with you."
Arc nodded frantically again. "Ok, mommy!" With that said, Arc ran off to look for Luneth.
Nina sighed. "Why can't they just stay children forever?"
R&R!
"Write what you think is right."
