Paper Flowers Still Bleed
"May I tell you a riddle, Nagi?" Mukuro looked up at me. "S-Sure, Mukuro-sama." I replied softly, still folding my paper. We were in this beautiful land, the land that he made for us. "What is the music of life?" Mukuro asked. I drummed my fingers on the table, placing a paper flower with the rest of the origami that he was teaching me. "I don't know, Mukuro-sama. What is it?" Mukuro cupped my face, running his thumb against my cheek. "The music of life is silence."
If silence is the music of life, why did it pain me to be silent, especially at a time like this? "M-Mukuro-s-s-sama...I-I see you..." I whispered.
All will be fine, Nagi. Just breathe. Would you like another riddle?
I coughed. We were losing the fight, and I was brutally wounded. "A-A riddle, Mukuro-sama...? At a time like this? A-Are you sure?"
Kufufu...it's a yes-or-no question, Nagi.
I coughed again, and this time, blood came out of my mouth and into my hand. Oh, God...I couldn't breathe...and why was my vision blurring? O-Oh no...was this death? D-Did I fail Mukuro? "S-Sure...Mukuro-sama."
What is the world's biggest lie?
I stood, using my trident as a balance. I swung an illusion of a tiger against my opponent, stalling him for a while. I needed to heal...to get away...
Nagi-kun, you didn't answer my riddle.
"Chrome-chan!" Boss called out, running to my aid. I turned him away. "I'm fine, Boss!" I lied. I then looked up. "The answer to that question, Mukuro-sama..."
I knew that everything happened for a reason. I knew that when I was hit by that car, it was for a reason. I knew that when Mukuro saved me and fell in love with me, it was for a reason. I knew that everything happened for a reason that I wouldn't be able to understand in this lifetime. Why? Because I knew that to every yin there was a yang, to every up was a down, to an attack there was a defense. I also knew that... paper flowers still bled... and I was Mukuro's little paper flower.
"...is innocence."
