I updated this to put the paragraph spacing and added a few details!! I hope you guys like it, it's my first story!!
A young elf sat perched in a Mallorn tree on the edge of a clearing. It was late night and a waning moon was high in the sky surrounded by billions of bright stars. A small pond in the middle of the clearing reflected the moon and stars in beautiful shining ripples. Small elanors drifted around the pool as a small wind blew through making the grass a sea of shimmering silver dew. The multitude of trees creaked and rippled like a wave in the ocean.
The young elf, Melwen, shivered as she twirled a small flower in her fingers. An owl hooted in the distance making Melwen jump and she looked around. There was no sign of life except a small white rabbit moving back to it's hole. She lied back against the branch looking up at the moon. Her bright blue eyes glowed with wonder as she remembered ancient tales of her ancestors who saw the light of the golden trees. She thought about the story of how the moon came into being and wondered how the treed really looked.
Just then she heard a sound coming from one of the two entrances to the clearing. It was coming from the entrance that led away from Lorien, so whoever was coming might have been an enemy. As silently as possible she flipped over, squatting in the tree, carefully concealing herself behind leaves. She quickly drew an arrow from her quiver along with her elvish-made bow. She nocked the arrow and silently peered through the leaves to the entrance.
As Melwen waited for the trespasser to enter she thought about her duty. It was her nightly duty to stay at this clearing and watch for anyone who tried to use the clearing to enter Lothlorien. This was a fairly unrisky watch since only a complete idiot, or someone who was friendly would come through such an open spot. Yet, it was nearly midnight and the thought of someone dangerous facing her in battle rose goosebumbs on the back of her neck, she wasn't ready to die at her age and was slightly afraid of that prospect
As the stranger neared, she could definitely tell this was an elf or fairly nimble man, from how lightly his footsteps fell upon the earth. He sounded fairly tall, from the distance between the steps. Suddenly the man entered. A grey cloak completely covered him and he suddenly stopped at the clearing to look up. As the hood fell from his head, she was surprised to see an old man. He had a long grey beard and very bright eyes. Suddenly his gaze turned to her and Melwen, she was amazed he could spot her, for no human had eyesight that well.
Knowing she could no longer conceal herself, Melwen jumped lightly from the tree to the ground, tripping slightly as she landed on the grounf. The elf's golden hair rippled in the breeze and her eyes flashed as she rose her bow aimed straight at the old man, and said "Friend, or foe...."
