"Oh Inuyasha." Kagome sighed. Now that the jewel was complete and Naraku was destroyed, she was back in her time, and she missed Inuyasha terribly. He could still come through the well if he wanted to, as could she, but he hadn't come for her for a whole month now. She didn't hear someone land on the roof outside, and began to sing a song she heard on the radio once.
Late at night when all the world
is sleeping

Inuyasha opened the window as he listened.

Needless to say, he was shocked. She loved him?

"Kagome." Inuyasha said as he stepped into the room. "I wanted to ask you something."
"Go ahead." she replied, quite a bit surprised that he had actually come after her after a whole month.
"Well, first of all," he said, suddenly blushing, "I…lo…love…you." By now he was blushing furiously. Then, he kissed her deeply.
After they broke apart, both of them panting for air, she smiled and said, "Oh Inuyasha, I love you too."
"Second thing, um…w-would y-you…be…my…mate?" he said, struggling to get the words out.
"Of
course!" said a positively beaming Kagome. Taking a deep breath,
she finished the song as she hugged Inuyasha. Late
at night when all the world is sleeping

"So where were you for a whole month?" she said, wondering why he didn't ask her earlier.
"Cause I was building a house for us to live in. What else?" he said.
"Oh. Can I see it tomorrow?" she said, as it was already late in the evening. When he nodded, she said, "Okay, let's go to sleep, then." He nodded again, and they settled down in their usual positions.
