Chapter 1
"I am in no way what is called ordinary. I have seen horrendose things and felt many lives slip through my fingers. For this is my curse, my blessing to live forever. But, as a price, I feel the pain of others. The cold of steel through the ribs, the sharp jolt of a bullet.
It all started with my brother, Nathan. It was the year 1821. At the time Nathan and I were living with our mother in a bad part of South Carolina. Thieves were our fear and enemy, but we tryed to live like normal; This wasn't to last. Nathan was 17 and I a young 15. We left the house to retreave mother medicine, for she was dreadfully ill. That night they found us. The thieves chased us into the alleyway. In an attempt to save me Nathan hid me by a nearby trash can. As they approached I realized, these were not thieves, these were beautiful, ravenous creatures unlike anyother. I watched as these creatures tore my brother to pieces. Instead of respecting his last wish I ran out in vain to stop them. Soon after, an icy grip took hold, and I was rendered helpless. A deep, slow moving pain shot through my body. Next I knew, I was alone. My dear brother gone and i still alive.
One thing happened that changed my life. I was given a 2nd chance and had the ability to live forever all to repay the debtfor Nathan's life. Unfortunatley though, it came at a price, the ability to feel others pain and the strongest of emotions from around me. That night, I to had become one of those beautiful, ravenous monsters. A vampire forever condemned to this earth. Over the years I have learned to control my hunger. My thirst. Now I live among you and when I must, I am able to ignore your raging emotions. So each day as I walk out into your sea of faces, each with your own thoughts and pains, I am overlooked and unnoticed for what i really,"
"Erin lets go. Tory is Waiting in the car." shouted Delancey.
I sighed putting my pen down.
"Coming" I replied.
As I stood up and pushed in my chair, I pulled on my black coat and looked in the mirror 1 last time before turning to the door.
