I do not own any characters or the series as you all well know. The amazing Richelle Mead does. So anyways, the character Mason always intrigued me. He was smart and funny and from the descriptions, pretty cute. However then Richelle Mead killed him so I thought he deserved a little more. Here is just my kind of lame attempt of trying to get into his mind. I hope at least one person enjoys it.

MASON POV

Rose. The girl who broke his heart. He would tell her over and over again how much she meant to him, but she never took him seriously. How could she when she had Dimitri. How no one else noticed what was happening between those two was a mystery to him. He guessed they were all just too caught up in their own lives to pay attention to hers. But he did pay attention. Because he was in love with her. He watched them grow closer every day, and there was nothing he could do because she didn't think he was ever serious.

Mason knew Rose for as long as he could remember. He was always there for her and cheered her up when nobody even knew something was wrong, let alone what to do about it. She was so confident and independent, not to mention beautiful. How could a guy not fall for her. Then they grew closer, and he discovered her smartassness, rebellious, cocky act was just that: an act. A mask she put on so nobody knew the real her. But he did. He knew how caring and compassionate she was. He knew she only put on the mask so no one else could hurt her way like her mom did and the Dragomirs did when they died, leaving her.

When Rose was old enough to flirt, she started to flirt with him. He really thought she meant it and something could happen between them. How stupid could he be! She made out with at least half the male population at the school, but never him. She never even kissed him. Well, that's not true. She first kissed him during a game of truth or dare, and then the first couple of times she got drunk, she kissed him, but those didn't count. Why wasn't he good enough? What made all the other guys better than him? What made them good enough to go to second base with?

And then she left. She left him. For two years. She didn't even say goodbye. She just took Lissa and ran.

The day she returned, he was so happy. Maybe they could finally be together. Again, he was so stupid to think that. She got Dimitri as a mentor and fell for him. Mason wanted to hate Dimitri, he really did. But he couldn't. He just wanted Rose to be happy and if happy meant Dimitri, then Mason just had to take what he could get. Which meant being the cute, adorable best guy friend.

However, he wouldn't give up without a fight. He was always trying to come up with ways to get her to take him seriously. And then it happened.

They were at court and somehow they started going out. They were actually together after all these years of waiting. Mason couldn't even begin to describe his happiness. And unlike Dimitri, he wasn't letting her go. But then Spokane happened. He stupidly went to fight Strigoi, and she came after him. Then they got captured-by humans of all things!-and she was still her smartass, rebellious self when talking the the Strigoi. He was so scared the monsters would hurt her or worse.

Present

Now she is offering the Strigoi her own blood. She wants to be fed off of. He has to stop it so he volunteers himself, but the Strigoi just laughs and feeds from Eddie. Mason feels bad he is worrying more about Rose than Eddie, but who can blame him. He is in love with her.

They manage to escape after Christian and Rose pulled their stunt-he feels silly for thinking Christian would actually kill Rose- but the Strigoi come back. Rose yells at him to leave her. She is crazy. He hasn't left her yet and he's not going to now. He will prove once and for all he is serious about her. Mason will prove he is in love with his Rose.
