Chapter 1: Reina's arrival
"What's all the buzz about?" Harry asked Hermione, who was reading a book called Advanced Arithmancy as he sat for breakfast at the Great Hall. "There's going to be a new student arriving today, " Parvati cut in. "I wonder if Hagrid's still gonna row him/her across the lake…" Lavender said thoughtfully. "Yeah, Professor Dumbledore said something about a draw about that," Parvati said. "Is that even allowed? New students in the middle of the start of 2nd term?" Hermione looked up from her book and stared at Parvati. "I dunno….but I overheard Dumbledore telling Proffesors McGonagall, Sprout, Flitwick and Snape about it last Tuesday," Parvati shrugged, and went back to talking to Lavender. "Where's Ron?" Harry asked suddenly. "Probably out by the lake trying to impress girls again," Hermione rolled her eyes, snorted, and went back to reading. Harry grinned because he knew that Ron and Hermione were now dating, and that Ron would never replace Hermione for any other girl. He had just started to eat his pudding when a hush came over the Great Hall as Professor Dumbledore cleared his throat loud enough for everyone to hear. "A new student will be arriving today to start her 6th year at Hogwarts. As it is tradition for Hogwarts to welcome new students by rowing across the lake, a boy's name will be selected to row the new student across it by drawing." Dumbledore beamed at the 6th Year boys who looked thunderstruck, some even worried. Harry blinked. He didn't have that much experience in rowing, heck, none at all. What if the boat capsized? What if they drowned? Harry's head swam, but he was snapped out of his stupor as Ron declared "18 sickles saying Harry gets picked!" Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan grinned and placed their bets. "I'll put a Galleon for Malfoy," Dean snickered as Seamus put his bet. "I'll bet on Neville 20 sickles,., and that the boat will capsize," Seamus and Dean fell on the floor laughing. Harry looked at Ron. "Why d'you bet on me?" he hissed. "Dunno, I just got a feeling, mate, and if you do, all these is all mine," Ron rubbed his hands together gleefully as Dumbledore announced: "Harry Potter,"
