Something in the air gave Elphaba an eerie feeling left in between her book and her face. How she hated Valentine's Day, she could stand birthdays or religious holidays', Halloween she could stand, but she couldn't stand Valentine's Day. The whole idea what foolish to Elphaba, she didn't understand why you should love someone only on one day, why didn't you love people everyday.

Elphaba sat under a Quoxwood tree trying to comprehend Winkie culture by reading a book. She had spent the whole day watching people receive cards and chocolates, and for Elphaba well someone threw a candy bar wrapper at her. Elphaba could only hope to escape for a few moments through a book.

The young witch decided to go back to the dorm tired of the dull book. She packed up her stack of books and her black coat and headed back to her living corridors.

When she entered her dorm the room was full of Valentine's boxes and a smitten couple sitting on the couch. Elphaba looked around the room and said to Fiyero and Galinda, "Where the hell did all of these stuff come from?"

Galinda and Fiyero looked up at Elphaba annoyed that the green girl was ruining their Valentine's Day moment, "They are presents," Galinda said firmly, "Gees I think thought I was blonde."

Elphaba groaned, "I know that," She looked at Fiyero, "You didn't buy all of these, did you?" Elphaba really didn't know what Fiyero would resort too on this February day.

Fiyero shrugged, "Of course not, other people bought them for her." Fiyero didn't get Elphaba, she was always guessing that he and Galinda were doing crazy stuff, like buying each other hundreds of dollars worth of chocolate.

Elphaba thought about that for a moment then said, "Doesn't that bother you?" Couples, it was a good thing that she wasn't in one because she didn't understand them.

Fiyero was laughing so hard he almost couldn't say, "No." Galinda seemed to catch on and started laughing. Elphaba sat on her bed. Fiyero regained composer and said, "What do you expect?"

Elphaba still astonished by the gifts responded, "Ok, it is your relationship," Elphaba pushed some Valentine's off her bed and stretched out.

"Pookie I better go," Fiyero groaned. He kissed Galinda lightly on the cheek. He knew that he had a stack of Valentines that would rival Galinda's.

Fiyero left the dorm and left Galinda in a daze. Elphaba broke the silence by saying, "Well I guess you'll be eating chocolate for a month."

Galinda squealed, "Oh my gosh Elphie," Galinda stood up from the couch and looked at Elphaba, "Elphie there are forty- five Valentines here."

Elphaba looked at Galinda annoyed at Galinda's bragging, "Is their a point to this or are you just-"

Galinda gave a weak smile, "Only forty-four of them or for me," Galinda shuffled through the stacks of red.

"What?" Elphaba hated the way that Galinda talked in riddles. People thought that she was complicated but people could be wrong Galinda liked to play with peoples heads.

"Elphaba," Galinda looked into Elphaba's eyes, "Elphaba you got a Valentine."

Elphaba snatched the card out of Galinda's hands and stared at it in astonishment. The Valentine was so graceful, pleasing. It made a little bit of Elphaba's dark side turn light.
