Maka is rejected by the person she loves. She is all ready to take out her own life but an unlikely person saves her.

This is my first Soul Eater fanfiction and I went with MaStar. (It's an adorable couple, really.)
It's short but hopefully, you'll like it.

I do not own Soul Eater.

"Black Star..."

The glare he is giving me... He is definitely angry.
But I don't have time for that.
I have to...

"MAKA, WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING?!"

I jump a little, startled by his loud voice.
"I- it's..."
"THAT'S A KNIFE!"

Black Star jumps to my side and knocks the blade out of my hand.

"MAKA! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!"

The anger in his face, in his expression.
What does he know?
He knows nothing of what happened, nor will he be abe to help.
Soul...

"WHO DID THIS TO YOU?!"
"What do you know?!"

My voice sounds painfully weak compared to his but I don't care.
He's just a happy-go-lucky guy.
He's Bla-

"MAKA!"

I ignore him.
My hands reach out for my knife.
Where is it?

"MAKA, LOOK AT ME!"

I am startled once again as he holds my shoulders and shakes me.
"WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THAT KNIFE?!"
"Would you shut up?!"
"Maka..."

I am a little taken aback when his voice weakened.
I look at his face and am surprised to see concern.

That is not the Black Star I know.
He's cocky, loud, obnoxious and carefree...

"Maka, you look stupid. Your face is wet."

From tears.
It's...
He doesn't know how I got them.

"Who did this to you?" he whispers.

I shiver at the sound of his concerned voice.
His eyes are shaking as he inspected me.
"Black Star..."

"Maka, they need to pay."

"Stay out of this," I say feebly.

"And the knife... Were you going to hurt yourself?"

His voice is dreadfully quiet but the intensity of the fire in his eyes is more than enough to give me the chills.

"It's not like that..."

"I need to know who the person is."

And I feel like I will not be able to get out of this if I don't mention him.

I bite my lip and feign to be thinking, as if I am considering what I should say.

A moment passes.
Black Star is still waiting for my reply.
This heavy feeling in my chest, I utter about it in a single name.

"Soul."

A look of uncertainty passes across Black Star's face and I know he's trying to comprehend and guess what happened.
Will he know? Will he understand?

"What did he do to you?"

So he decides to ask me.

"I don't..." My voice shakes but I continue to speak. "Want to say."
"Are you kidding me? What did Soul do to you?"

"Never mind me, Black Star. I can handle this alone."
"What if you can't?"

It is just a simple question but hearing it, I feel like my heart can explode and I can cry once again.
I can't... I definitely can't do this alone.
Black Star, hear me...

And I am shocked at what comes next.
I feel warmth, his warmth, all over me.
"Black Star..."

I am in his embrace...
His hands gently pat my back, as if he is comforting me.
I play with the back of his hair with the little energy that I have.
I find that I like it and I feel good.

This Black Star...

"I'll knock some sense into Soul," he says behind me.

"You don't have to fight him," I whisper.

"A punch at his face will do."

I can almost hear the conviction in his voice.
I realize that no matter what I say, I will not be able to bend it.
He certainly believes his position and statement are right.

Do I have to care?
I feel safe in his arms.
If it isn't quiet, I think it's close to peace.
My heart is calming down to a steady beat, as if it's just walking in a park.

And now, I can imagine myself walking in a park with Black Star.

I embrace him back tightly and bring him more close to me.
"Thank you, Black Star."
"I don't care if he's my best friend. No one hurts you, Maka."
