Morag sat back in the chair, tilting it on two legs, balancing herself precariously, her toes curled on the partially open drawer. Her tongue was sticking out of the corner of her mouth, her face steeled in concentration, trying to focus her magical energy on the sweets hidden in the back of the top drawer. Mummy never let her have sweets, but she knew that Daddy's secret reserve was buried deep with his office supplies. She tried silently screaming "Accio," but to no avail. She was simply too young for non-verbal spells; at seven, too young for spells of any kind.
The door swung open, hitting the filing cabinet behind it with a loud bang.
*Crash!*
Her chair tipped all the way back, her startled feet pushing her off from the desk. She screamed as she flew backwards, and Zacharias rushed into the room, his wand out, slowing his daughter's tumble to the hard stone floor.
In her terror of being flown from the chair, she lost control of her mind, leaving it free for the magic to well up inside her, gathering for release. As her mind filled with panic and sweets, suddenly Zacharias was staring open-mouthed at his daughter as the sweets he'd been hoarding for the better part of three months went soaring out of his desk drawer and into Morag's outstretched hands.
Her face beamed as she smiled broadly.
He shook his head, and slid his wand into its holster, snatching a Bertie Bott's bag from the air before it could reach Morag. He reached in, popping a handful of Every Flavored Beans into his mouth with a grin.
"Your mum is going to kill you if you eat all of that, lovey."
She had already begun to stuff her face full of licorice sticks, and was just unwrapping a sucker when she laughed at her Dad.
"I'm not afraid of Mum, Daddy. I'm your daughter. She doesn't scare me."
Zacharias turned his head, pretending to cough, but snickering under his breath. Death Eaters were one thing; this was entirely something else. He was afraid of Megan's reaction, and pulled out his wand to Apparate away when he heard her coming down the corridor to retrieve their daughter.
