Chapter 1. The Invitation Gift

Dani's P.O.V.

I stood outside in the cold wind one early afternoon waiting for Ludwig to meet me. Apparently, he had something to talk to me about, which I didn't know about. I rolled my eyes; annoyed now that he wasn't here. God dammit Ludwig! I thought angrily. He was supposed to be here by now….what the hell is taking him so long?! I heard someone from behind me clear their throat. I turned around and faced Ludwig Von Koopa, his bluish-grey eyes meeting mine. He smiled a little, revealing one of his fangs. I frowned at him in annoyance and crossed my arms across my chest.

"Ludwig!" I snapped furiously, glaring angrily at the human koopaling. Ludwig took a few steps towards me and took my hand.

"My beautiful immortal…" he said softly, his warm smile causing me to scowl. "I'm so glad you accepted my invite." Ludwig took a hold of my hand and kissed it before looking back up at me and smirking slightly. I quickly yanked my hand away, taking him by surprise. "Have I done something to upset you my dear?" He asked, a worried tone enlaced in his voice.

"You have a LOT of explaining to do as to why the hell you made me wait so long, Ludwig!" I snapped tapping my foot impatiently. The smile quickly faded from Ludwig's face as my friend nodded slightly and took a deep breath.

"Ah yes, m-my the deepest apologies Dani," Ludwig responded flatly. "I had to pick up a few things."

"What 'things' would you be referring to?" I asked sharply, my angry glare fixed upon the dark blue haired male. I watched as Ludwig's gloved hand fumbled through the inner pockets of his dark blue coat, pulling out two things: his wand and a small black box. I rolled my eyes furiously at the sight of his wand. "Your wand again, Ludwig?!" I growled balling up my fists. Ludwig gave me an annoyed look before taking a deep breath.

"Yes…" he mumbled staring at the ground, "I needed Kamek to do an upgrade on it." I rolled my eyes and sighed.

"You're always having to have Kamek do an upgrade your wand Ludwig!" I shouted, my anger beginning to take over.

"Y-yes... I know…" Ludwig stammered placing his wand in his jacket. I growled as my eyes fixed upon the box he had in his hands.

"What's in the box?" I asked, my tone softening up a little. My friend's warm smile reappeared as he stepped closer to me. I felt Ludwig place the box in my right hand and cover my other hand on top.

"Open it," he instructed me. I did as I was told and was amazed to find what I saw. Within the black box was a dark blue heart pendant on a silver chain. Engraved in the heart was a golden 'D' in cursive. Ludwig beamed as I smiled up at him in amazement.

"L-Ludwig! It's...beautiful! Wh-why'd you get me this?!" I asked as Ludwig shoved his hands into his pockets.

"Well... I had a friend make it for me as a little 'payback' gift for helping out with a certain task so..." His voice trailed off as I hugged him tightly.

"You didn't have to do this for me, Ludwig! Honestly, you didn't." I told him. The blue-haired male shook his head, smiled and leaned into me a little. I leaned back slightly as our eyes met.

"I thought it'd be a nice thing of me to do," He responded softly. I nodded in response, blushing slightly.

"O-okay then Ludwig." I replied.
