Author´s Note: These are my entries for a 100 Theme Challenge held at The Harry Potter Club on (.com/journal/The-Big-HP-Groupwide-100-Theme-Challenge-257561940). There´s a list of 100 prompts and each chapter will be a one-shot for that prompt. Draco will be the most frequent character, but I try to write about as many characters as possible, after all it´s supposed to be a challenge.:) If you got any questions or suggestions, don´t hesitate to ask. Feedback is what I live on. And most importantly: enjoy!
1. Reflection
Teddy Lupin, 10 years old, studied his reflection with a critical eye.
He was a pretty child. Everyone said so. His Granny, his godfather, his aunt Ginny (who wasn´t really his aunt, but insisted upon the title), even his uncle Draco (who, on the contrary, hated to be called uncle, even though he was related to him (never mind he really was his cousin, once removed). He said it made him feel like an old, eccentric guy with moustache. Teddy thought this very strange, because Draco´s own cousin (once removed anyone?) hadn´t been anything like that.).
Another thing about his appearance that bothered him much more, was that everyone told him he looked exactly like his parents. Granny said he had the elfish nose of his mother, though why she called it elfish was beyond him. From what he had seen of her real nose on photographs (and that were only those pictures taken with a Muggle camera, because she changed it every five minutes on all others) it reminded him more of a Niffler.
Standing in front of the mirror, eyes darting back and forth from the photograph in his hands and his face in the glass, he couldn´t find much of a similarity. So he decided upon an experiment. He had always loved those, even though his Granny hadn´t been so enthusiastic when he had told her about his successful study on Doxy breeding in toilets.
Squeezing his eyes shut as if in unbearable pain, he concentrated hard on his mother´s nose. When he opened his eyes again a slightly different boy met him behind the mirror. There, he thought. Now I really have her nose! But something was not right. It didn´t fit. Maybe the hair colour. Right now he was wearing a sickening shade of venomous green.
Counseling the picture once more, he changed it to the light brown colour of his father´s hair (but without the grey, thank you very much.). Thinking of his father, he remembered that his godfather Harry had told him how much his eyes reminded him of his former D.A.D.A. teacher. A pair of twinkling hazel orbs gazed back at Teddy, but he saw something different on the paper in his hands. A quick eye squinting and he had added that mysterious golden ring around the pupils.
What else? Aunt Ginny always said that his face was just as heart shaped as his mother´s. Is that really so? He decided no and accordingly made his chin a bit pointier, only to stare at his uncle Draco´s jaw. What had he said about his looks...oh yeah, that his father´s teeth had been tusks and that he would probably get them as a teenager. He didn´t quite believe that though.
He observed his finished experiment. His reflection, now with all the features of his parents that everyone told him he had, was a complete puzzle to him. He didn´t recognize himself anymore. With a heavy sigh he changed everything back to normal and his favourite hair colour of turquoise. The only person I resemble, he deduced from his experiment, is me.
