Represent That Character! Challenge II

Isobel paced the floor of her bedroom, her mind whirling with the conflicting thoughts in her head. This was the first time she had to make a big decision such as this: her parents and her magic, or the love of her life. And she had to do it alone.

Her parents would obviously be biased to their side. Her parents were wizards, just like herself, and they wanted her married to another wizard. They didn't even know about Robert, for she knew how they would feel about him. They wanted her to keep her magical heritage instead of sullying it with non-magical blood. She was meant to marry one of their chosen suitors and have magical children like every other witch.

But that would be going against her heart. That would mean throwing away everything she felt for Robert. That would mean discarding every nice word, long look, warm embrace and sweet kiss they'd ever shared and just stomping all over it. She couldn't do that. She couldn't just get over him like they would have wanted.

She loved Robert, she could feel it deep within her heart. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, but he was a muggle. Robert knew nothing of magic, and she was scared if she told him, she may scare him away.

A nagging voice said, If he loves you, then he'll understand. But she loved him so much she didn't want to jeopardize their relationship and take that risk.

But although this was a usual thought on her mind, this was a special instance. He had said something to her the other day and that's what had started this whole inner conflict and the wearing out of the flooring. She had hastily told him no, she couldn't do that, she wasn't that type of girl and she couldn't do that to her parents. He had been obviously crestfallen, but put on a brave face. He smiled and said they didn't have to do it, just still being with her was enough.

Why did he have to be so sweet? Why did he have to be so understanding? She had turned him down and he loved her all the same. He still wanted to be with her, no matter what, and she still wanted to be with him. They wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. That thought sent her heart racing but also came with the feeling of safety and surety, that always came when she thought of him.

She had made up her mind. She quickly ran down the stairs, ignoring her parents' cries and dashed out the front door. Instead of apparating like she could have, she ran the whole day to his home. She ran to the nearby town, past the bakery and the market, and then she was on his doorstep.

She rapped her knuckles on the door, swaying slightly on the balls of her feet. Then the door opened and there he was: his short brown hair and his brown eyes, the dimple on his right cheek and the slight stubble that finally started growing in this year. He smiled at her and started, "Isobel, what are you-"

He couldn't finish his sentence as she threw herself at him, wrapping her hands around his neck and placing a big kiss on his lips. They held it for a few seconds before she smiled and said, "Yes! Yes, Robert! I will marry you! No matter what my parents think."

He grinned at her, pulling her into another deep kiss, and then embracing her tightly. He whispered into her ear, her tears of happiness wet against his cheek, "I'm glad you changed your mind."
