I was walking home one night

A funny sight I saw

One man dressed all in black

Singing old Blues songs

His fedora was high and shone with pride

his sunglasses ne'er removed

I thought I'd seen him somewhere

Down in Baton Rogue

I regarded him quite closely

As he put down his black suitcase

And headed for the pond

Where ducks would play and chase

But on this night

Dark and full of gloom

I thought something wasn't right

With the man in the suit

Intrigued with his presense I followed him there

And on the bridge he sat

Dangling his feet in the water

As he took off his hat

He looked very sad and I wanted to cry

As he stood and leaned against the railing

His tears welled up as he tried to resist

Mine and his own efforts failing

Hot water spilled down our faces

And still I dared not inch

I wanted to run to scream to yell

And then the poor man flinched

Something drew me towards him

A message in my head

And I felt I could not leave

Until it was said

I gathered all my strength

Enough for both us

As I walked up to the shuddering man

I swear I heard him cuss

"Oh shit" he said in a deep deep voice

a voice chalk full of pain,

"What am I to do with out you?

Why can't you live again?"

I tapped his shoulder

softly with grace

and he jumped and looked at me

I pulled him into an embrace

"Fear not dear Elwood"

I whispered in his ear

"Jake has not left you,

for he's still in here"

I took his hand putting it over his heart

and he staired in a shocked array

"Excuse me ma'am" he said quietly

"What did you just say?"

"I think, dear Elwood,

we were meant to meet

so Jake could tell you

not to admit defeat.

You have a strong heart

and a life to live

he doesnt want you wasting it

on account of him."

"But i miss him so bad"

he said with a pout

"So much sometimes

I want to scream and shout."

"You'll see him one day"

I said with a small smile

"Not just yet though

Live your life Its worthwhile."

He gave me a smile

that was so very grand

and then he grinned and said

"Hey wanna come see the band?"

And we walked off into the sunset

Even though it was quater past three

Myself with a new friend

And him with me.

A/N::: I wrote this last night... I don't know why or where-from it came... Maybe it was John Belushi trying to send a message to Dan Aykroyd...
