"You talk about life, talk about death and everything inbetween like it's nothing." – Mika, My Interpretation

Helen was not the woman Cutter knew. She had no regard for anything anymore, not even life. Her soft spot for him had certainly disappeared along with any goodness she once shepossessed. The ARC was burning, he'd saved her despite everything she'd done and yet she pointed a gun at Nick. Helen was blabbing on about the greater good and quite frankly Cutter couldn't care less. Her common sense had rapidly detoriated as far as he was concerned. She pulled the trigger.

Connor seemed to come flying out of nowhere at the last minute. He knocked the professor out of the way. Rather bemusedly Nick noted that it'd been a complete accident. Connor had spotted him, started running and tripped. From that point on gravity had done the rest. Helen turned and ran not bothering to admire her miscalculated handiwork.

"Connor?" called Nick.

"C-Cutter?" stuttered the student lifting his head to reveal a dazed grin.

Nick let out a sigh of relief, there were no bullet wounds on either of them as far as he could see. At least, not anywhere fatal. The two men got to their feet.

Jenny was relieved that both Cutter and Connor had made it out of the burning building in one piece. Abby's relief however was overwhelming. For a minute she'd wondered what she'd do if Connor died. Her flat would feel empty. She'd miss his arguing, inane references to science fiction she'd never seen and awkward rambling. The first thing she did was hug him. As he kissed her she couldn't help but wonder if the same things had been going through his mind.

Cutter's face was stony and impossible to read. Jenny nervously approached him, unsure of what to say.

"Helen took a shot at me." he remarked in a disbelieving tone.

No words needed to be said. Jenny slipped her hand into his. Connor stumbled to the ambulance Lester had called, despite his cheerful attitude the bullet had nonetheless scraped his leg. Jenny smiled, knowing everything was going to be okay as the team took an ambulance ride home.
