Stay

By: Blufox

You look at his suitcase one last time before zipping it up.

You've checked it more than twice but you have to make sure that he's going to be okay for one whole week. You were the one who packed his things for this trip. He insisted that he can do it by himself, but you know better than to believe his words.

He is never the responsible type of person to begin with. Often times, he forgets to tie his shoelace before running. He never dries his hair up after he takes a shower. He wears thin layers of clothes and freezes his ass off especially during winter. You worry too much for him, and you know that you love him.

Your hand unzips his suitcase before the action registers your thoughts. He stops your hand and gives you an amused smile. "I'm going to be okay, Yuushi," he says. You can't bring yourself to say 'okay', so you nod instead.

You can see Gakuto pout from the corner of your eye, so you try to block his view with your back to stop yourself from giving in the urge of kissing him senseless. You want to think that he knows that you love him, but you know that he doesn't. He's sharp when it comes to other people's feelings, but he never seems to notice yours.

You don't know how long you've been spacing out until you feel him flick his finger across your forehead. He straightens the wrinkles against it before you can even react. "I'm going to be okay, Yuushi," he repeats to you. You gather all your strength to pull up a smile. He smiles back at you and you feel something heavy building up in your groin.

You help him carry his bags outside your school dormitory. He looks excited as you both wait for his friends to come pick him up. The silence between you is unusual. Before you know it, you're opening his bag again, trying to make sure if his passport, cellphone and wallet are all in there. He punches you playfully and reminds you that he can take care of himself.

You want to tell him that you want to take care of him but you're not yet ready to take a risk.

His friends arrive a little more than five minutes after. You help him place his bags at the back of the car and watch his back move away from you. He turns his back swiftly before he enters the car. "Don't miss me too much," he calls back at you. You smile at him and tell him that you'll try. He gives you another amused smile before entering the car.

He rolls the window down and pushes half of his body out as the car begins to move. He waves energetically and tells you that he'll call you up once he gets there. You know it's wrong to feel for him, but you can't help yourself.

As you watch him push his body inside the car, you can't help but feel that you've made the wrong decision by allowing him to go. You feel selfish for wanting to keep him for yourself, but he's Gakuto, and you love him, which is why you can't help but feel fear each time you allow him to jump high.

You know that Gakuto can fly. It makes you proud to see him soar and reach his dreams just by jumping high; but you fear that he might never come back to you. You're afraid to let him fly too much, and you feel guilty for wanting to hold him back.

Suddenly, you become aware of how long you've been standing outside. You can't help but realize how much you're going to miss Gakuto. One week of separation from him is enough to drive you insane, but you know that it'd be worth the wait.

One week from now, he would be back, full of stories to tell. You won't be able to sleep for consecutive nights, but you'd indulge yourself with this action if it gives you the reason to snuggle and share the couch with him.

You look forward to his return; but for now, all you can do is wait. You're not much of a patient person, but you'd do it— even if it takes a month, or even a year. Because for Gakuto, you'd do anything.
