A/N: Hiya! XD It's Rox here! I originally did this as part of a 100 word drabble challenge thing. ^ ^;;; This was for the 19th word, 'stars'. I decided to put it up here for other people's amusement. :3 Flamers = bad. I'm not looking for critics, alrighty? Also, for those who are not AkuRoku fans, I'm sorry. This drabble is based on it(sort of). Ah well, you have been warned. Just in time for AkuRoku day in 3 days as well. XDDDD This is my contribution to it. Kingdom Hearts belongs to Square Enix and Nomura.
Without further ado, here is the mini drabble.
~::Under The Stars::~
"… So… how many do you think there are?" I asked, gazing up into the starry night sky.
Axel and I were bored, so we took a drive out of the city… out to this small lake with some grassy hills... which is where we were. Lying on our backs, on said grassy hill, gazing up into the clear, star lit sky.
"… How many what?"
"Stars, you twit."
"Hey, hey… no need for name calling." The red head chuckled. "Hmm… I don't know. Too many I guess."
"Well no kidding…"
"I can sense your sarcasm."
"Fine, fine…"
Silence.
"Have you ever wished upon a star, Roxas?"
"… No. I don't believe in such a thing."
"Really? And why is that?" Axel asked, sitting up and gazing at me in curiosity.
I hesitated. Well, what was I supposed to say? I don't believe in wishes… they never come true… so why bother trying?
"… Because it's stupid…" I grumbled.
The red head gave a small chuckle.
"Well, I'll tell you one thing… they aren't stupid, and they do come true."
I frowned a bit, sitting up next to Axel. Wishes come true? As if…
"Yeah right, Axel."
"No, seriously… they do." He insisted, gazing back up to the sky. "For example, remember that day I met you? I was lonely and a week before, I wished for a friend on a star." Axel gave a small smile. "See, they do come true, but they don't work if you don't believe they will."
I looked to Axel and then back up to the sky.
"… But what if that star falls?" I mumbled. "The one you wish on?"
I knew it was a stupid question, but… why believe in wishes? That's all they were… wishes…
"Then your wish will come true faster." Axel replied simply. "A falling star doesn't mean your wish won't come true."
And we sat in silence for the next half hour… just gazing up, enjoying the moment for all it was worth. You couldn't really see the stars in the city… It was too bright… and noisy… this was a nice change compared to every day life.
"Oh sh—Rox! Look!" Axel exclaimed, pointing up to the sky.
I followed the area where he was pointing, eyes widening in surprise. A shooting star shot across the sky, leaving a small trail of light behind it.
"C'mon, Roxas! Make a wish!"
I blinked for a few moments and then gave a small sigh. Why not? I closed my eyes and made a wish, the first one in a very long time.
"Well, what did you wish for?" The red head asked, after a few moments.
"Can't say or it won't come true." I replied with a smirk, opening my eyes.
Axel rolled his eyes, lightly shoving me in the arm as I snickered. I shoved him back in amusement and watched as he gave a dramatic sigh, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Alright, fine. Should we head back? It's late."
"Yeah, let's go." I replied, standing up and brushing myself off as Axel did the same.
And as we walked back to his car, I gave a small smile of my own. What I wished was for Axel to always be there... because without him, I don't think I'd have the wings to fly anymore than I have. And I believed that this would be the one wish that would come true.
