She lay on her bed in her dark room, looking at the beautiful ring on her finger, and then back at the picture of her and her fiancé. She had been in her room… for perhaps four months, and she blocks herself from any social activity. Her fiancé had gone off to college in America, but before he left he asked her for her hand in marriage. Do you think she declined… of course not!! She stays looking at the ring on her finger. How much she missed him… how she longed to feel his soft, gentle kiss. She was in a trance, just about the cry, when the phone rang. It startled her a bit, but she managed to pick it up.
"Mushi Mushi," She said.
"Serena!!! I've missed you so much!!," He replied
"Darien!!," Serena shrieked excited to hear his voice.
"It's really great to hear your voice again." He said almost as excited as Serena.
"My god… you have no idea what it's like here without you. It's plain murder," She started " I don't like to go outside and hang with the girls anymore… I haven't seen them since you left. My mom's worried about me, and I won't come out of my room at any costs. This is the first phone call I've answered in four months." She finished as she started to cry.
"Serena I do know what it's like." He was about to say when he was cut off.
"Darien… when are you going to come home?…" She said…in a low depressed voice.
"Well, I'll probably be coming home sooner than I thought. The professors here say I'm one of the best students they've seen in a very long time." Darien replied.
"Do you need to leave now?" she said.
"Actually, I probably should leave because call is about to start in about ten minutes. We could talk for a few more minutes if you like." He replied.
"Iie… I don't want to mess up your schedule." She said semi-happy.
"Ok then, I'll talk to you later hun, ok?" He said smiling to himself.
"Ok!" She smiled to herself as well.
"Talk to ya later Serena, I love you!" Darien said.
"I love you too, BYE!" Serena said and he hung up.
Serena lie back down and fell asleep. While she was asleep she had a nightmare.
