A/N: This is a post Journey's end FIC. SPOILERS
The Doctor woke to find the sun just creeping in through the curtains. A warm, puff of breath tickled his temple. Rose. He smiled, and used his free hand to brush a stray strand of Rose's hair from her lovely face. He let his fingers linger over her cheekbones for several moments until he finally kissed her on the cheek and allowed his head to fall back on the pillow. His arm draped across her, hand resting on the soft skin of her shoulder.
His Rose. She really was his, it was so easy to forget sometimes. He'd spent so long without her, thinking he'd never find her again. He smiled as she mumbled something, and scooted closer to him. She did that a lot. Talked in her sleep. She said his name sometimes. He'd used to worry it wasn't really him she was calling out for, but she'd put his fears to rest months ago. It was his bed she shared. His lips she kissed. His body she touched.
It had been months since he'd seen her get that far away look. The one that told him she was thinking about his other self. He no longer feared he wasn't good enough. He knew he was.
Because I love her. Because I'm the Doctor. Because I'm still rude and not ginger. Well, maybe a bit ruder. He smiled to himself. He had Donna to thank for that.
And because now I can tell her anything.
Living only one life changed everything. Not knowing how much time you had, put things into perspective. Suddenly, time had more meaning. It was funny, he'd been a Time Lord for so long. Done so many things. But he'd never really understood time until he'd become part human.
Rose shifted again. She was awake now. He could always tell.
"A Human life isn't all that bad." He whispered against her ear.
"Better with two." She mumbled against his cheek.
"Much." He breathed and pulled her against him. Her mouth was over his in moments, claiming him, telling him how much she needed him. Wanted him. Loved him.
"Doctor." she moaned.
He smiled. "I most certainly am."
She laughed, and ran her fingers through his hair. "Have I told you, how much I love your hair?"
He beamed. Today was going to be another fantastic day.
