The first day of Christmas
Sho Fuwa trudged undisturbed through the iced-over snow, careless as the falling flakes increased in pace. No-one would bother him tonight… not that he was becoming unpopular. That was unthinkable— Sho Fuwa, currently Japan's 2nd favorite man in the entertainment industry, unloved?
Ah, but that was the problem, wasn't it? The only one who mattered, and she…
But that was not the issue… well, only partially. It was December the 24th… does the date sound familiar? It was a date that stood out to Sho Fuwa significantly for a different reason than for most people. Anyone out on the streets who noticed him and tried to get his attention would soon meet with the most venomous stare the world had seen. Even Shouko had known better than to say anything to him or try to stop him from doing as he pleased.
The pop idol walked past a store window, stopping to glance down at the delicate jewelry bathed in gold by the warm light from inside. A wry smile spread on his lips as he rested a few fingers on the glass pane, eyes resting on a particularly over-the-top ring that reminded him of… of her. His hand slid down the glass towards it unconsciously. Maybe he could give it to her as a gift…
Sho winced and turned away, continuing his stroll. On second thought, that wasn't such a good idea. It wasn't like this could do anything if his actions ten months ago ended up meaning nothing. He hadn't lost her completely, not yet, but… Sho knew it was nothing more than wishful thinking to think anything he did, any changes he made, would mean anything. His mistakes as a child had scarred his future as an adult. Now here he was, with everything he thought he ever wanted, brought with the sacrifice of the only thing that had really mattered…
And no matter that he had changed— he was a different person, a better person— she wouldn't believe him. She could never trust him. Sho knew it was his own fault.
Sho glanced at a bench nearby and sat down, staring unseeing into the swirling white in front of him. It was his worst Christmas…
It was Sho's second Christmas devoid of Kyoko.
Author's Notes: This is the first installment in a project I'm doing for the twelve days preceding Christmas (Yes, I know the real 12 days of Christmas start on Christmas and not end there. Humor me, okay?) Anyway, I'm drawing a picture and writing a short fanfic for a different series each day, increasing the number of characters in the fic by one each day. Today it's Skip Beat, and the character is, of course, Sho Fuwa. Hope you enjoyed!
