Jake knew that Rose was gone for ever. Everyone noticed he had been colder, but no know except a select number of people knew why.
He was still thinking of her, when Trixie and Spud came up to him.
"Hey bro, how you holding up?" Spud asked sympathetically.
"We missed you during free period," Trixie softly added.
Jake replied stiffly, "I spent it patrolling the city. As far as I can tell, Rose's wish came true. No huntsclan anywhere."
Jake felt a pang in his heart. It still hurt to say her name.
"But what about your wish?" Trixie asked, confused. "I mean if the Rose that existed today was never taken by he huntsclan, that means all the stuff between you and her never... happened." She paused, suddenly realising the consequence.
She then added sadly, "She lived a whole other life."
Jake looked down, sadly. His eyes were glistening. He then looked up and answered;
"As long as she's happy."
His mind then focused on other things. He put on his skateboard helmet and soared off on his board. He told his friends;
"Well, later guys. I'm off to gramps shop for some Dragon- ahh!" He shouted as he bumped into someone.
A pile of books fell onto the floor. The person bent down to pick them up.
Jake spun round.
"Oh sorry I- oh..." he stopped as he realised who the person was.
The person turned round. It was Rose, dressed in a blue skirt and white top. She had a choker flower necklace on.
Jake smiled. "Hey there."
Rose looked at him and smiled. He seemed nice.
"Hey yourself," she greeted.
As Jake picked up a book, she looked at him closely. Where had she seen him before?
"You look really familiar, do I know you from somewhere?" she couldn't help but ask.
Jake frowned and bravely answered;
"No, sorry."
They both stood up as a yellow bus drove away. Rose waved to two adults across the road.
"I better get going, my parents are here."
Jake turned and saw them. Smiling, he turned to Rose, "So, I guess I'll see you around?"
Rose turned to him, frowning, "Actually you won't." Then, smiling she continued, "My Dad got a job overseas. We're leaving for Hong Kong first thing tomorrow!"
Rose walked into the road to her parents, but not before turning back and calling, "Well, it was nice talking to you!"
Jake felt a little deflated that she was leaving, so he'd probably never see her again. But then, looking up, he saw Rose and her parents hugging. Jake smiled. They all looked so happy.
"You too, Rose." he said as she got into the car, the last glimpse Jake thought he would see of her.
"Happy Homecoming."
