It'd been less than a week since Nate had been rounded up to jail and Sophie had arrived back in Boston. Almost silently, the grifter paced outside of the closed office door of her fellow co-worker. The rhythmic stepping of her heels creating a dull, muffled, noise throughout the empty, carpeted, hall. She'd been waiting diligently, for her anyways, for Parker to meet her. Parker had ruefully agreed to go "out and gossip" with Sophie, after she'd been pressed quite abundantly by the 'matron' of their group.
Patience vanished, it had been 20 minutes, Sophie silently opened the door of the office thief, only to find Parker doing something she'd never imagine, with someone even less likely.
Eliot, Eliot Spencer, sat with Parker, Parker of all people, curled on his lap. The two of them, locked in a steamy embrace, pulled apart as if they'd been shocked. Even more quiet than when she'd opened in, a red-faced Sophie abruptly closed the door, leaving mumbled apologies, and an incoherent, "I'll be in the kitchen." in her wake.

"But, what I don't understand is 'Why?" It'd been about an hour since Sophie discovered the usually reclusive Hitter and quirky Thief kissing inside Parker's office.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Sophie exploded. "I can see why you wouldn't tell Hardison, even understand why Nate hasn't been privy to this information, but I am still confused as to why you couldn't have told me?"
She paced back and forth, agitation present as her heels sounded a sharp staccato on the tile floor. Parker fidgeted standing by Eliot who had a patient yet frustrated expression.
"It's not that easy Sophie! What was I supposed to do? Huh? Call you up, wherever you were, gallivanting in Europe, and gossip over what's been going on?" Parker sounded off.
"You and I both know that if you had called I'd have been more than happy to discuss this with you, your life, what matters to you, it's important to me," sighed Sophie, "We're a family."
"Family doesn't just up'n run to Europe, Soph" Eliot interjected, frustrated, "without any explanation, you can't just come back and expect everything to be fine and dandy."
It was then that Sophie realized, Eliot was right, she had left this team behind, twice now. Even though she had sent in another grifter Tara who'd filled the whole in their team, Sophie still left a gaping whole in the family. However odd, and unusual their family was, it was all any of them had. As she watched Eliot and Parker leave, through the front door much to Parker's aggravation, she understood that the thief and hitter were good together. They moved in perfect sync, perfect harmony. This was when Sophie finally appreciated the fact, that no matter how much any of them messed up, someday it'd be fixed, and someday they'd be as close to normal as their dysfunctional family could be. Someday.
