OUAT prompt/ Hook as Pan

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

A name is something you're given when you are born. It's a identity. It's who you are.

Captain Hook had many names. Hook was the most obvious and the one he's carried around the longest. Before that, he was Killian Jones; a roguish swashbuckler that had no trouble stealing many a man's wife. That is, until it cost him the ultimate price. Himself. Losing Milah stripped away all that was 'Killian' and forged 'Hook' as his new identity. He was now feared and respected. Known in every land he came to and hell bent on the ultimate revenge.

But he was someone else before he was Killian. He was simply Peter; a lost little boy who ran away from his empty home. His father had left early on and his mother died of heartbreak (or shame). Peter was alone and unloved. So he found others just like him. And then he had a family. He had what every child wanted desperately. But it also came at a price. Peter had to be responsible for those he brought to Neverland which is something that no 12 year old is ready for. So Peter had two choices; grow up or move on. He tried to be responsible and left his shadow there to help the lost ones find their way.

But over the years, as Peter became Killian who became Hook, his shadow also darkened. His shadow was corrupted by the darkness in his own heart and the dark magic that swamped Neverland, turning it from the magical land of his youth into a dangerous island that no one could escape from.

Yet here he was, 331 years after his birth as Peter, standing face to face with his shadow...literally fighting his own darkness to save a lost boy.

He didn't die a hero. He'd lived long enough to see himself become the villain.
