She smiled, and what a sad smile it was. This is the end. This is the end of everything. She slowly rose from her seat, and looked at her beloved. Beloved. Their eyes met, and she exhaled a shaky breath. We won't have to suffer any longer, my loved. This is how it ends. They looked at each other for a while, and then her beloved finally said:
"I never meant… it wasn't supposed to happen. I'm sorry."
She knew then, that he truly was. She could see it in his eyes. Beloved, a faint whisper in her head echoed. Now, she spoke:
"I know." Then she hesitated, but only for a second. "For how long…?" Her beloved sighed, and averted his eyes.
"I…I don't know. It feels as if…" He didn't continue the sentence, but she knew the end of it. It feels as if I've always felt like this. And she knew that feeling, she knew what he meant. Their eyes met again, and she caught a glimpse of the man he never let her see. That feeling she saw in his eyes was not for her, she knew. Oh yes, she knew that very well. The man who seemingly had a heart as cold as ice could only let it be warmed by that person. It had always been like that, but she had never wanted to acknowledge that truth she had always known, deep within her heart. But now, at the end of things, it was finally time to face the cruel reality she had shielded herself from. Until now.
Indeed, they wouldn't have to suffer any longer. She wouldn't have to be with him knowing he wished someone else was in her place, and he wouldn't have to be alone anymore. Because, that was what he was, she thought. Alone, and in his heart, he had always been. But then he met that person who slowly changed him into something not so cold and… indifferent. I have kept them apart long enough, she thought, now even more determined, as she walked up to him. With a swift motion, she caught his hand with her own, and raised her head to rest it on his shoulder. Her beloved did nothing to resist this, and even responded by softly squeezed her hand. She sighed again, and placed her mouth against his ear.
"I'm not blaming you," she whispered,"It's my own fault, for not letting you go when I knew I should have." He suddenly let go of her hand, and gently pushed her away with his hands on her shoulders. He shook his head.
"Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault," he said softly, while looking into her emerald eyes. "I should've stopped this, but I was…confused." And unhappy, she thought and wished for the hundredth time that she had realised this earlier. Before we hurt ourselves like this. He let his hands slid off her shoulders, and stepped away from her. She closed her eyes for a second, and braced herself. This is the point of no return. I can't stop now! She spoke before he had a chance to:
"Go now, Sasuke. Before it's too late."
"Sakura, I-, "He began, but she quickly cut him off.
"No, Sasuke! Just… just go." She smiled that sad smile again. "I want you to be happy. Both of you. I've gathered all of my strength for this. Don't break my resolve now."
Despite it all, Sasuke gave her one of his unusual smiles, and then a small hug. Ending it with a hug.
"Thank you," he whispered and quickly set off to find his beloved. Uzumaki Naruto.
Sakura felt glad that she could actually think of worse endings than this.
Owari.
A/N: I don't have any idea what the heck this is, I just suddenly felt the urge to write something, and as I wrote it, I felt a sudden urge to make it my first Naruto fic. This isn't anything special, I know, but I felt like writing something emotional. I haven't written much stuff like that before. Anyway, I don't have a beta or anything, and English is not my first language, so please be kind. And don't forget to review (and make my day).
