Coulson's Vision

Coulson's walking, he is taking large steps

Back and forth through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s latest headquarters;

All are asleep, yet Coulson cannot:

They are being besieged by Grant's forces,

Grant is promising to decapitate Coulson,

Make his piece a headpiece of the Hydra.

Coulson often comes up to his window;

What is that, what's that noise that he hears?

Nothing's there, save for crying night-bird –

Probably it's an agent of Hydra,

Very soon they will break into HQ,

Very soon, S.H.I.E.L.D. will be going down.

Soon it's not owl doing the hooting,

Not the moon, who is doing the shining,

There's footsteps all over the HQ,

The HQ is lit up – by hellfire.

No one's left to fight Hydra soldiers,

No one to fight Hydra's hellfire,

Only Coulson, he is the last one standing;

He is released from his new restraints,

He is walking into his former office.

He walked up to it, flung the door open,

Deep inside, from the fear he quivered,

But he steeled himself, uttered a prayer,

And resolutely went into his office.

My oh my, things have certainly changed:

There's corpses – they're lying all over,

Blood between them is flowing in rivers,

Like a rain of blood, there's dripping.

Coulson's walking, stepping over the corpses,

He is now in blood up to ankles.

Woe Coulson! His office – full of Hydra,

Both of human and of alien soldiers.

At the table sits Grant Ward in person,

He is cleaning his personal weapon,

There's fresh blood, it is freely dripping,

From his hands upwards straight to the elbows.

Suddenly, Phil Coulson felt steep terror:

Here he sees his family, most dear.

Poor Daisy kneels before Grant, on his right side,

Most heartbreakingly, she prostrates in obeisance,

Offering herself, just let Grant spare Coulson;

On Grant's left, too kneeling and broken,

Is Melinda May, who formerly was Cavalry,

Now broken, with her neck red and bloody,

(Grant Ward's memory is long, he had remembered,

How Cavalry had cracked his own larynx),

She is too prostrated in obeisance,

And her eyes are blank, her wits are gone forever.

And 'director Grant', the look his eyes frightening,

Daisy pushed aside, and not too gently.

Walked to Coulson, and spoke, while grinning:

"Thanks for killing back then on Maveth,

Like a phoenix I rose, and stronger!

Now I repay, father Phil, in kind.

I'm making you in my ally."

And then Grant Ward turned back to his minions,

And proclaimed: "Give Coulson new clothes!

And not those made from silk or from velvet,

But from skin of my last, younger brother."

And his soldiers did drag in Ward Thomas,

Ripped his clothes, and rendering him naked,

Using knives, or else – their teeth, like daggers,

They did flay alive Grant Ward's remaining brother,

Stripped his skin and flesh, revealing his bones,

And they put his skin upon Phil Coulson's shoulders.

And then loudly Phil Coulson proclaimed:

"Nick, Maria, WTF had I started,

Back on Maveth, when I had unleashed this monster,

I forsook S.H.I.E.L.D.'s teachings, I am punished!"

And at that Phil Coulson's world did quiver,

Noise died down, so did hellfire,

All in fact did vanish as Phil woke.

And in darkness, walking on tip-toe,

Did director Coulson reach the doorway,

And he did look outside the HQ.

All was quiet. The moon was shining brightly,

From the sky upon the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s last HQ.

Suddenly, a bomb came flying strongly –

Hydra forces went onto their offence.
