This Is About Us, a William/Audrey Fanfic
"This is about us."
This is a love story. As difficult as it is to believe, it always has. They are the star crossed lovers connected by a barn, a box. Two supernatural beings forever intertwined. He's her keeper. He's the game maker. He knows her better than she knows herself. No matter how many faces, names or stories, she will always return to him.
There was once a tale about a woman who would magically appear out of thin air. She arrived when there was turmoil in a little town called Haven. She would come with immunity to theses troubles. With all her might she would fight the troubles and bring peace to the tiny town and in return the people would give her love. This love she took with her. She disappeared for 27 years and took the troubles with her.
But the problems would always return and so the woman would too with a different face and a new name. She would replenish her love that she lost when she took the troubles away.
Where did she go for 27 years? What did she do?
"This field; this was our favorite place. We used to have such fun up here."
There was a time before all the troubles, all the different faces and names. There was a time where she was just herself. There was a time when it was just him and her.
The grass was soft beneath her feet. The air blew through her curls and across the soft contours of her face. She felt his hand at her waist, his fingertips digging into her skin. They'd watch the sun rise and set. She lost track of how many times they'd just sit here until the sun went down and fall asleep to the sound of the tiny town rustling and bustling far beneath them. Their little town.
He knew everything about her. When she got mad her eyebrows would furrow and her lips would pout. When she laughed the faintest shade of pink would appear on her cheeks and her smile would be wide. She had the best laugh.
He had no control over her though. He could bend her path as much as he pleased but he could never force her to stay. And she never could. She needed to leave. He needed to lead her to Haven. She needed to help the people in their tiny town from drowning in their own fears and troubles. So that is exactly what he did no matter how much it pained him to see his love acting like someone else. And he always prayed that one day she would remember how it was before the troubles began. He prayed that she'd come back to him again.
