Ash Ketchum was scratching his loyal Pikachu in-between the ears as the yellow, electric mouse cooed on his lap. The sixteen year old boy had come home after a long journey of becoming a Pokémon Master. He was relaxing on the couch as his mom and Mr. Mime tidied up the house before they would walk over to Professor Oak's lab for a big celebration in honor of Ash's greatest achievement as a Pokémon trainer. Time ticked away in the middle of the afternoon. Ash grew impatient and sighed out of exhaustion. He continued to pet Pikachu.

"Mom, when are we going to head over to Professor Oak's lab?"

"The party won't start until six, Ash. We're expected to be there ten minutes ahead of time and it's only quarter to five."

Ash turned his head toward his mom who was sweeping in the kitchen.

"But mom, I have nothing to do right now."

"You can either help me and Mimey finish cleaning up or get dressed. Don't you want to look nice for your party for becoming a Pokémon Master?"

"I guess so. But I wouldn't know what to wear."

"I hope you'll wear something a little nicer than your trainer gear. Your friends will be there."

Ash cocked his head to the side and stopped petting Pikachu. He was curious which of his friends from his journeys throughout the various regions would be there.

"All of them?"

"I don't know, Ash."

Ash was disheartened by his mom's response. He wanted to know if his best friends would be at Professor Oak's lab. He was especially curious if his bestest friend would be at the party because he missed her deeply. He couldn't help but felt hopeful that his mom would give him the answer he wanted to hear.

"Will she be there?"

Delia Ketchum stopped for a brief moment and looked up at her teenaged son and sincerely gazed at his hopeful face.

"I'm sure she'll be there, Ash."

Feeling confident about himself and the party, Ash thanked his mom as he stood up from the couch and beckoned Pikachu to follow him up to his bedroom. The dynamic duo trotted up the stairs and entered the room with Ash shutting the door behind them.

Back in the kitchen, Delia was smiling to herself. She was glad that her son was growing up. She lightly laughed to herself knowing full well that Ash was eager to see his best again, especially his very best friend from Cerulean City. Content in knowing what would happen during such a momentous reunion, Delia resumed to sweeping the kitchen floor.
