When Agent Seaver was a consultant on the case in New Mexico, she knew she wasn't a part of the team. However, the team suddenly felt like she was a replacement for JJ. Even Ashley felt it, especially when someone would bring up JJ in a conversation. When JJ returned, to help with Prentiss' random disappearance, Ashley could feel the lonesome when everyone gathered around JJ.
"We need an agent with the freshest eyes," Rossi told Seaver the day they were trying to figure out why Ian Doyle would want Prentiss – but murder families too.
Seaver could feel the tension when Hotchner would tell her the mistakes she made. She would never tell him, but she would do anything to correct those mistakes – but he would tell her not to fix them.
"You weren't supposed to go on your own, Agent Seaver."Hotchner told Seaver sternly after saving her from Drew Jacobs.
She would remember how kind Prentiss was, even if Seaver would ask some stupid questions – that she should know. Prentiss was a wonderful teacher, and Seaver was glad she had some time to talk with her, before her death.
Seaver liked Reid too, despite how annoying his rambles would be – she actually liked listening to his facts and statistics. She also liked how close in age they were, because she felt so young compared to the rest of the team.
Seaver liked Morgan, because he would tell her mini things that would calm her down after horrible cases. She would never admit it to Morgan, but she would trust him with her life – if she could.
Seaver liked Garcia, because she was as optimistic as working on the job could get you. She would love Garcia's greetings on the phone – and she would miss the calls between her and Morgan.
On Ashley Seaver's last day, she silently thanked the team – with not verbal way to do so. On her way through the glass doors, a female voice stopped her.
"Ashley…" JJ said quietly, to not draw attention from the team. "I just wanted to tell you, the team actually did adore you… And I understand you weren't a replacement." JJ said kindly.
Ashley didn't know what to say, but she felt relieved that someone verbally told her, what she wanted to hear. Ashley nodded shyly, before pressing the elevator button.
"Thanks JJ," Ashley said, "I really needed to hear that."
