Picking a Name
"Hi." Nick said cheerfully as he walked through the door.
"Hi, how was your night?" Jackie asked.
"Good, how are you feeling?" He asked her.
"Good, I actually slept well last night." Jackie said.
"That's good." Nick said.
"Hi dada." Jasmine and Houston said at the same time as they both looked up from playing with their toys on the floor.
"Hi guys." Nick said with a smile.
Suddenly Nick felt something pulling on his pant leg.
"Hi cutie pie." He said as he bent over to pick up Johnna who had happily crawled over to him.
"Mama." The baby babbled happily.
"Dada." Nick corrected her with a laugh.
Despite Nick's tireless effort to teach her, Johnna hadn't mastered the art of saying dada yet, which not so secretly thrilled Jackie. The only words Johnna knows how to say are mama, no, and da (which Nick and Jackie finally figured out meant dog)
It was cute when Johnna was looking for Dolly and couldn't find her because she'd say "No da mama." Which meant "no dog mama." But it sounding like she was saying "No duh mama."
"What are ya doin' Nick asked Jackie who was sitting on the couch surrounded by books.
"Looking through baby name books." She responded.
"Did you find any you like?" He asked.
"Yeah a couple." She said.
"Hey Jazz what do you think we should name the baby?" Jackie asked.
"Damine." She said.
"You think we should name her Jasmine?"
"Yeah."
"Then we would have Jasmine one and Jasmine two." Jackie said to her little girl with a laugh.
"Dat funny." Jasmine giggled.
Nick and Jackie just looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"What do you think we should name her Houston?" Nick asked.
"Baby." Houston said.
"Well makes sense, that's what she is after all." Nick said with a grin at Jackie.
"What names do you like, besides Jasmine and baby that is?" He asked Jackie with a laugh.
"Well I really like Karlie." Jackie said.
"I do too, if I remember right, I think I suggested that when we were looking for names for Johnna." Nick said.
"I don't remember that but you could have. So what do you say, do you want to go with Karlie?" She asked.
"I do really like that." Nick said.
"Good and can we spell it K-A-R-L-I-E, I don't know why but for some reason I really like that spelling."
"Yeah that's cute, we can spell it that way if you want." Nick said.
"Good, thanks." Jackie said with a smile.
"What about her middle name?" Nick asked.
"I was thinking of middle names and I came up with Allison, it's a combination of my mom's name (Aubrey) and your mom's name (Jillian). What do you think?"
"I love that, that's an awesome idea, and they'll be flattered."
"Ok so Karlie Allison it is then?" Jackie asked.
"I think we have a winner." Nick agreed with a huge smile.
Jackie smiled back, she was relieved that they had come to an agreement. Now all they needed was the baby.
