I sit on the newly washed comforter of my bed with my laptop on my lap as I have done countless times before, I bring up my hard drive, and expertly weave my way through the old school paper and presentations to rest upon the secret folder that no one knows of. Not my parents back in Milwaukee, not my new found friends here, no one. And no one will know until the day that I finally publish it. The day that I get my book deal. This book has been my life for the 4 years, and tomorrow, I take it to the place I have been dreaming of. Robin Bird Publishing. That tall, silver building is the main reason I moved to Chicago. After getting my master's in English and an undergrad in writing at UW Madison, I moved to Chicago to fulfill my dream of becoming an author. And tomorrow, tomorrow is the day. The day I start living that dream.

I had submitted my manuscript of the book the week I moved to Chicago, about a year and a half ago. I had gotten a job as a concierge assistant at a hotel, and I now I am the manager. I am only at work 5 days a week, unless there are any problems over the weekend, which there usually aren't. Which means that usually have the weekends to myself to write. Well, apart from the parties my friends throw almost every week. But, it's Sunday. At 9 am tomorrow morning, I have a meeting with the head of Robin Bird Publishing. If they like my book, I will meet my new editor and discuss release dates. If not, they will hand me back my manuscript and tell me to never give up and to try try again. I'm terrified.
