A 200 word drabble taking place at the end of "To Shanshu in LA." Angel realizes that he considers Cordelia and Wesley family and will do anything for them. And what's even more shocking is that, for once, he's not afraid of their companionship. Please feel free to leave reviews, whether they are complimentary of constructively critical.
"You too," Cordelia commands, looking down, and extending her arm toward him.
Me too, what, he wanted to say. But before he could even open his mouth, he saw that she had a plastic cup filled with refrigerated blood.
He wavered about drinking blood in front of Cordelia and Wesley; they'll be disgusted by it. But Cordy just looks at him strangely, smirks, and says, "Don't be embarrassed. We're family."
He counteracts her sweet smile and accepts the drink. Family. Not the most conventional of families, of course, but a family, nonetheless. A family to work, cry, and laugh with. A family he knows he'll do absolutely anything to protect from harm and danger. Just like he had proved to do so last night. To jump through a burning building to rescue Wes, to hunt down the enemy for the antidote to save Cordy, whatever obstacles they'd throw his way, they'd be no match for Angel. Our champion had a family to take care of and he'd go to all lengths to make sure that they would in fact be out of harm's way.
We're family, the words reverberate through his head. Family. Kind of like the sound of that.
