After Lucifer goes back to hell, Dean's perspective of Castiel coming back. #supernatural #Destiel
With Sam gone, Dean knew that what Sam would have wanted was to see Dean settle down with a family. At the beginning of their adult journey of ridding the world of disgusting monsters, Dean knew that deep down, Sam still wished Dean had never come to his front door that fateful night. Sam had always pretended for Dean that he felt right at home in the hunter's world. And he always had, he just always wished that it wasn't where he was supposed to be. After Sam fell back into the pit, he knew that was the only way to honor him.
In that rundown graveyard, sitting there next to the Impala, he would have given anything to have his brother back. He knew better from the times before though, that this was not the answer. There was no angel, demon, or monster that could bring Sam back now. He had nothing, no Sam, no Bobby, No Cas… All he could do was sit there. Hopeless. Just then, the unthinkable happened. Castiel appeared beside him. Speechless, as he watched Castiel lay two fingers against his forehead, all the pain melted away, or was at least pushed deep down as he knew he was not alone anymore. The comfort of seeing Cas, and watching him cross the field to his father, Bobby, and breathed life into his, he knew that he didn't have a fate of being completely empty any more.
Seeing Castiel for the first time brought to mind so many questions. Who brought him back? Why did they bring him back? If Castiel is back, will Sam be able to come back? Did Castiel remember the last thing that Dean had said to him before leaving him and Bobby that night in the city? All these questions were pressing down on him like a ton of bricks, but all he could think about was how glad he was that he was alive. The how and why, were unimportant for the time being.
Dean began to stand, slowly, unsure of how well his body will hold up after the beating he had taken from his little brother, or rather his enemy Lucifer.
"Dean. You are fine now. I healed you" Cas spoke, walking towards Dean. Wondering whether he should embrace him, knowing that it might be the answer to the questions Dean had asked him the last time that they spoke.
"Cas? I… I don't know…What…"
"Dean, it's okay." Cas said as he jogged across the small patch of grass that separated him and the person he loved most, Dean. Embracing each other in a hug that they both knew meant something so different from all the other times before, was a wave of relief. Letting out a sigh, not knowing what else to say, they sat on the grass, and let every aspect of the past day, to truly sink in.
